Bombing in fighters (poll)

It probably wouldn’t fly due to the devs focus on que times, but some thing like a “role” system that MMORPGs use for dungeons could work, you select a role, ground attack, air to air, base bombing etc and you gain a 20% bonus for actions related to that role. que say 4 base bombers, 4 ground attackers and 8 fighters per match (the game already dose this by only putting 4 bombers per match). Problem is it might result in more TKing when some one who is running ground attack or fighter kills a base.

Which means they would be meaningless to the win. As it is now.

If you want to find a solution, bombing must become more relevant to the outcome. And therefore must require more “skill” somehow, or more risk (as it was once).

I am fine with bombers, you don’t find me here starting threads like this one. I have a problem with people who want others to stop what they themselves are doing too, so that they can enjoy it more. Like the OP.

If I want to win with my bombers, I take them to arcade air, where they have a fair chance to decide the matches. But I don’t expect a win when I fly a bomber in RB.

How would this effect queue times?

If you limit the number of players that are preforming a certain role in a match that could increase que times when there is a large number of people that are wanting to play that role. like how Ju-288s take longer to get ques since they stopped giving them those special 6v6 matches. The BRs where there are a lot of premium strike aircraft (su-7s, A-10s, Su-25 etc) would likely be affected, although as there are no actual bombers they could spilt them between the attacker bomber roles.

I’ve never mentioned limiting the number of players that can have a certain role in a match.

I suppose, attackers wouldn’t need to be limited, only the base bomber roles, but having 6 or more people all going after ground targets could get messy. But I suppose that’s not really any different to the current system

Would be great . If the card says fighter than no bombs - no more kfir canard at 11.0

Should be 2 BRs for each jet.
Tornado bombs - 11.3
Tornado no bombs 10.7 for eg.

I think so yeah, but i didn’t mention any further limiting that would further increase queue times.

See, that’s exactly what I think should not be done, and another great example why not:

While on the stat-card the Kfir may be a fighter, it was specifically designed as a multirole aircraft based on the Nesher, which in turn was an unlicensed copy of the Mirage 5, which was the ground attack specialized variant of the Mirage III.

While also intended to be used as fighter, in its operational time the Kfir’s were mostly used in the ground attack roles, with F-15 and F-16 filling the fighter role for the IAF.

So you’d take away the bombs from this multi role attacker, only because the stat-card says “fighter”?

Usually people like to take it away to get rid of the faster base competition. That is why usually these discussions are pointless. They don’t focus on the game but on their grind. “They stole my bases!”

Please define “fighter” / “strike fighter” / “fighter bomber”…

In my book, the capability to carry and employ air to ground weaponry is exactly what turns a “fighter” into a “fighter bomber”.

At least roughly: as with so many things, its’ not black/white, but a gradient of a lot of shades of grey: Where do you draw the line, based on what parameter? When is a fighter not a fighter anymore, or an attacker not an attacker anymore?

Why is the Sea Harrier FA 2 a fighter, and the Sea Harrier FRS.1 an attacker?

The real issue is gaijins greed.

Torando F3 late BR 13. Great loadout no bombs.
Tornado GR4 with 2 9ms and aload of bombs - 12 3.
If the torando late got bombs its now BR 13.7. No more effective in game just snail greed balance.

This is the problem. The strike aircraft or similar dont have a job in airRB. Kfir canard- 11.0 is solely because it bombs…make it nake sense.

This makes the game have a few from many jets that compete leaving the rest existing

Better solution is actual specialized objectives for fighter-bombers/intruders/strike aircraft (frontlines, supply depots, ‘soft’ targets or precision targets) and level bombers (buildings, harder targets that need large poundage to destroy.)

What do you qualify typhoons, thunderbolts, corsairs as? Their real life use included bombing and strafing airfields and entrenched/bunkered positions.

None of it will change the fact that the team more likely loses, if members persue this objective. What we need first is a rework of win conditions. Before that, nothing will change.

what i dont have the F13 mig 21 ? i have only the J7II

That’s my stats, where I got 0 frags in it intentionally so it’s the only fighter I have zero air to air frags in.

to be fair according to everyone on forums its balanced fighter and should be facing 10.3s J35XS
