Boeing F-47 Next Generation Air Dominance Fighter Jet

This is incorrect. They initiated a pause to review the NGAD programs priorities. That review came to the conclusion that “yes, a manned fighter was necessary” and then let the final decision sit until the next administration incase budgeting was prioritized elsewhere.

Based on that image we have, it almost looks like it has canards lol.

man the video was posted by a USAF general. General David Allvin. And on the video its have a dif configuration. Smaller than Su-57 levcon and bigger than Su-75 lerx.

are they all the manned component or are they showing prototype wingman drones?

F-47 is a proper 6th gen design. I was skeptical of calling anything being produced by any of the countries of being 6th gen and had the assumption they’d instead be late 5th gen design.

New generations require radical airframe changes, the new F-47 gets rid of horizontal stabilizers and still is capable of supersonic flight which is a historic feat in engineering. For a long time aircrafts without horizontal stabilizers such as B-2 bomber could not be supersonic due to lack of horizontal stabilizers.

This is also why I do not regard B-21 Raider as 6th gen as it is not capable of proper supersonic flight without horizontal stabilizers.

Removing horizontal stabilizers have two benefits, one being increased range due to less drag and the other being reduced cross section.

Flight computers.

It does, zoom in.

Thrust vectoring is pretty much a gimmick. definetly would be surprised on a 6th gen

Plus, it comes from the USA, which was already able to make the first 5th Generation FIghter jet, so I think we can trust them to make the first 6th Gen. They have been the ones creating new Generations for a while.

Spoiler

Not in the info i have read.

nah, id be surprised if it didnt because RCS increase of control surfaces, using thrust vectoring to limit the number of control surfaces is very logical

this is making the assumption that they have very fine control of thrust vectoring but I dont see why they wouldnt be able to use it with FBW to compensate for the missing tail.

that image is definitely either artist rendering or AI gen, so im not sure id believe it for design features

Hah I knew it, everyone kept saying noo it doesn’t look at the NGAD renders but here we are :P

Whats the AXE? First time I’ve heard about this

Yea it could be. Or it could be that that was one of the design it could end having. I remember that Sukhoi “tested” like 35000 different design for the Su-57. Here one of the funny ones. Canards + Levcons.

Spoiler

Not entirely. It significantly reduces takeoff and landing roll, which aligns with the USAFs ACE concept for utilization of more austere basing. The more interesting sight is canards, which traditionally are less optimal for what should be an incredibly stealthy design.

Then you haven’t been reading it properly, as that’s basically verbatim what it says

As a joke, it looks like the ugliest stealth jet.

I would rather biasing X-32 fr.

Wait… wasn’t X-32’s developer Boeing too?
