BMPT classification wrong?

The BMPT has been a bit of a controversial topic, but I wanted to bring up something that confuses me the classification that it gets TD(Tank destroyer) on paper if you look at its weapons then yea it has every fit for being called a TD until you look at the doctrine and its purpose since in the name of it Боевая машина поддержки танков or Boyevaya Mashina Podderzhki Tankov depending on how you want to call it, since in my opinion it would be entirely going against what the tank was classified as which can be seen as slightly be disrespectful or misinterpretation, depending on how you view it, but that’s my opinion personally I think it should be more of a Light tank if anything. Of course I’m not saying this will solve everything if anything new solutions causes new problems but back to main topic since the reason for its cannons are so that it can disabled the enemy tank and allow another MBT to come up and finish off the kill it was designed to help kill stuff not do the killing, and the ATGM’s(Still doing a bit more research translating Russian into Finnish or French these are my main languages then into English takes a long time.) it’s the reason why it carries not a lot of ATGM’s and why it can shoot four before needing to reload them since this are back ups in case if things go south.(should I say west? Since Russia and United States don’t like each other?) But I’m just wondering why if I get answer I will be more than happy to read it to see the explanation.

Yeah, it should be classed the same as the namer, which struggles cuz of a lack of an ammo box. Another case of gaijin double standards, but everything about the BMPT is annoying

Yea, simply in my opinion, and from what I’ve gathered from others, the BMPT and T-58 would have been perfect as event vehicles, and the reason being is that the problem with these two vehicles is not because the stats, even though that’s half the reason mainly the reason being is that everyone has access to them, Gajin they’re perfectly able to get rid of these vehicles for balance reasons cause we’ve seen the Swedish low tier vehicle the SAV.(I forgot the numbers lol) has been removed due to balancing issues so they can get rid of these. Of course new players would rush to get them, but it would be a somewhat better way to counter this because we know all good. Well know They’re not gonna change the armor system so by making it wear only an X amount of people have these it wouldn’t be as common.

It’s classified as tank destroyer/missile launcher carrier because it would behave as one, but since classification in War Thunder don’t always reflect in real life documentation, doctrines or any other form of official information for vehicles as such, I can’t help but imagine a more realistic scenario where the BMPT and BMPT-72 are reclassified to medium tank which would reflect howbit behaves in-game;

At some way or another BMPT and BMPT-72 works like a heavy IFV (HIFV if you will), in a far future with alikes T-15 Barbaris is added it should have such classification as medium tank to portrait its highlight in armor (main battle tank levels) yet weaker guns designed to other purposes, BMPT and BMPT-72 should fall under the same rule.

With consequences its spawn point cost will naturally increase so people would play more smarter rather than cheap unit to throw off. People been reporting frustation fighting off the Terminator but same can be said whoever fights alongside it, which in a disadvantage scenario most Terminators’ player would’ve leaved the game by the second death (off topic, returning to the one-death-leaving issue).

I understand, which I wish Gajin would listen to Tanks doctrines i understand why, some tanks can’t have these but we just have to deal with this.
Also a bit of a personal belief i don’t think USSR/Russian Federation wasn’t over buff, but NATO was over nerf in my opinion, i don’t really agree with some YouTubers saying Russia/USSR is over buff but it due to the fact that NATO is over nerf. But that’s my opinion.

Screw it, make it a light tank

It’s a bit tricky, it’s a “tank support vehicle” but that still falls under “armoured fighting vehicle” category that are mostly classed as “light tanks” in game.

not entirely, the poor gun elevation of Russian tanks caused serious problems in mountainous terrain like in Afghanistan and in urban environments, the BMPT is designed to provide fire support for MBTs to clear infantry from elevated positions, basically it dose the job that NATO infantry screening dose.
One thing to consider though is if it changed to a light tank, it would get spotting and “airstrike” to get Kh-38s/ LUMRs faster

The BMPT already destroyed the game already, might as well force the hand of Gaijin to either buff every other IFV back to the “meta” days, or accept that in their greed, they ended the game.

Funny enough IFV’s are the few vehicles I have found that can abuse a funny weak spot on the Terminator. I don’t know if this is intentional or not but sometimes with my experience of IFV’s, you could just randomly one shot of terminator, but also the driver report or where the driver is most IVs can just keep on shooting at where the driver is of course if you don’t die while shooting and are able to shoot fast enough, you can kill a terminator pretty decently.

They really should have added the TT one first and waited on adding the premium, it would have made it far easier to adjust the damage model and BR if thousands of people had not bought the premium.
It seriously needs a fix to it’s damage model.

I think that issue with autocannons is a large part of the issue with the BMPTs, they find any little pixel gap in the armour or in some case simply phase through it.
Between the crazy damage model and overperforming autocannons it’s a prefect storm of OP.
