So I tried usa 10.7 again. It just uptiers to 11.3 or 11.7 and team gets erased by bmpts anyway. On a side note I was surprised that agm65d and hydra both managed to instagib bmpts.
Huge win for 9.3, 9.7 and 10.0 I guess.
Beam riding missiles are entirely modeled incorrectly, War Thunder still hasn’t modeled beam riders losing the beam from rapid laser movement. People give too much credit to their effectiveness when they are just as delicate as wire-guided missiles.

Not only that, but they would be nearly impossible to use at close range due to the initial wobble; They only fly in a straight line once the beam is narrow enough. Beamriders are overperforming in nearly all aspects.
BMPT BR 12 and BMPT72 BR 11.7 minimum. Both can go to 12.
Played Sweden 10.7 so this is in regards to Sweden only, did 1 custom match to test DM23 then played 5 real match and won 3/5 matches. Highest kills was 7 and lowest was 2.
First, because Sweden has no .50 cals you have to rely on your main armament cause it’s low caliber machines guns are too weak to do anything to the turret. Using the slow CV90 BR 10.7 cannon does nothing so don’t bother even if you shoot first it can quickly turn its turret and destroy you. With USA encounters are different at BR 10.7 than Sweden 10.7 so that’s why I have no problems when playing USA and running matches there.
Second BMPT (5 crew) and BMPT72 (3 Crew) make a huge difference. If I shot the bottom nothing happens, if you shot the left or right you can take out the gunner or commander but since they both can shot going at it head on it’s instant death most times unless you get a crazy shot most encounters head on your dead.
From an angle DM23 (The strongest caliber 10.7 Sweden lineup has) can pen the outer armor but not pen the turret which means you need two shots or be at least perpendicular to do any damage as show below. If you shoot from a flank on a 5 crew it will take another shot and depending on an angle maybe 3 minimum. Drivers can replace and spaded agility good luck!
Here is what I’m talking about which is how most encounters when they’re not behind cover. This is at point blank range. I would say from a Swedish 10.7 lineup they either need better rounds or bring this BMPT to the suggested BRs if you don’t have good teammates and tanks with good pen you will likely not kill this thing. 1/5 losses they got a NUKE I was shocked how fast the match ended.
I could only kill them with CAS, I even used the cheapest missiles to test but TV’s also do the trick and all my BMPT kills were CAS.
Some changes happen because map sizes are small, ATGM’s are fine where they are since you also have to come to a complete stop to shot.
Its nice to see good evidence that BMPT is still not high enough as 11.3. Unless Gaijin did this by design, the model is simply either too bugged or too op. Having stronger rounds like the dm53 will probably have the same performance as the dm23 against the BMPT. And tbh MBTs from 11.7 to 12.7 are the same: BMPT won’t be able to pen the same spots but can pen the same spots and those atakas are crazy good against 12.7 frontal aspect. I think Gaijin won’t increase the br as fast as even this update they emphasized they did “two br steps” so looks like for now 11.7 is a reasonable next goal.
I personally use Custom Battles over Protection Analysis because Protection Analysis doesn’t show how REAL game play is. However, Protection Analysis is better if you don’t have the tank so having friends helps. Either way, there are shots that can one tap but extremely hard to get when that monster is moving.
Mostly likely scenario is 300 meters in most maps. USA gets really good pen rounds at BR 10.3 with M900 and M829A1. REALLY strong rounds for that BR so a good but not perfect shot front can one tap and side shots can go through most times. Sweden best caliber is DM23 for it’s ENTIRE 10.7!!! My experience was completely different even if this BMPT was 10.3 Sweden was destined to struggle against it, I knew it was bad but using that lineup fully spaded I see why USA at 10.3 it wasn’t the worst 10.7 was easy and 11.3 I have 0 problems. However using Sweden at 10.7 I was always DEAD, personally DM23 isn’t cutting it.
EDIT: I wonder if Gajin based the BR of the BMPT 10.3 on US and ignored everyone else (holiday time). If so that’s extremely incompetent. Either way all my matches I was teamed up with USA and victory was easy killing BMPT by myself was NOT. Only Swedish CAS did that trick.
Today, I met a BMPT in front of me, like 50 meters away, maybe less. It was on flat ground, like me.
I shot a APFSDS round with my MSC where the UFP and LFP meet. It bounced. I wasn’t sure if the shot was really on that specific part and if it was the case, if it would really bounce. So I checked the replay, and the armor simulation.
The round did hit that specific place, and it should have pened, according to the armor simulation.

The BMPT’s should be minimum 12.0. They are absolutely destroying the 10.0-11.3 brackets even after being bumped up. Its almost like all the russian mains crying about how this thing was fine at 10.3 are lying and the fact that the russian win rate went up over 15% in a month is insane.
Now it´s 11.3. I would put it in 12.0 and with turret basket.
because of 11.3, I am seeing them more at 12.7, if a good BMPT flanks you and you look over all you will see is its turret (from an experienced gamer in war thunder) meaning I have to first shoot my APFDS (which did some damage) and if you miss the mini pixel distance turret, you are dead since it will then spam 3-4 ATGMS. Personally, after some top tier matches it needs rework all the streamers that say 4-5 years ago this shouldn’t be in game were right. It’s too broken at top tier 12.7 in the hands of an experienced war thunder player without noob thoughts.
EDIT: Flanking is good but if you can spam and only expose turret without repercussions it’s OP, it’s not a problem at top tier with normal players but experienced players can abuse it easily more easily than other top tier vehicles. Since it is a tank destroyer if it fires all its ATGM it will retreat, get ammo box and then push again which should not be the case.
