Yeah I’ve seen that, a lot of people have. But… that’s mainly due to that being a minigun on an extremely high rate of fire…
Its about force of the round. If force of 12.7mm round propelant being set off properly has enough force to turn such mounting into beyblade, 30mm round propelant detonating due to being hit has enough force to detonate another round in belt right next to it.
As much as I’d like to invest in that, I’m not making an account just to read a PDF…
I don’t recall if Ground RB accounts for jamming, I know Air RB does, but AIr RB doesn’t quite care about the history or malfunction rate of certain weapons, they jam if you hold the trigger too long, or the weapon gets physically damaged.
Accounting for reliability and all these other small things is quite nonsensical, of course it’d be pushed because NATO players aren’t happy with slow firing bushmasters while Russia has a 30 that can fire slow and fast… but I digress.
If you can provide me the PDF in another format so I can take a look at it, that’d be great.
Fw-190s during WW2 did occasionally explode when their 20mms got hit by .50cals, but mind you their 20mms had significantly a lot more explosive than your standard run 20s…
When they exploded, their wing came off…but as far as I recall, the earlier 190s had drum mags stowed in the wings, tightly and densley packed.
Now for .50cals on american planes, I have yet to see or hear of any consistent incidents were .50cal just straight up exploded. On vehicles like the T-77E1, that shouldn’t happen, but obviously for “simplification” it just detonates rather than cooking off or potentially not doing anything.
Ground RB does have a jamming mechanic.
For sources: simply google M61 or GAU-8 feed problems for plenty of material. Half the mass of the weapon has to be given over to making a reliable feed system.
For a relatively low-tech gas-operated gun like the Russian 30mm which ‘pulls ammunition’ up through feeds/chutes you don’t want to be trying to make it follow a convoluted paths.
For STANAG 4396 - you can likely find a pdf on scribd or similar. It covers the risks (historic and present) of sympathetic detonation due to fire, shock and adjacent rounds exploding. They would not need to write up a such a list of requirements and tests if ammunition setting off adjacent rounds was a non-issue.

The GAU-8 / GPU-5/A is a link-less feed.
Basically what happens is that the fired shell casings are returned to storage to allow it to displace non-fired rounds advancing them up the chute and into the loader/unloader it’s why there are two chutes.
In short the ammo is pushed, not pulled like a belt is.

Yeah… but again, it really seems like a non-issue. There’s plenty of media showing the Terminators firing just fine, and even IF there is an incident where it jammed up. Nobody really knows how consitently, and the bend in the belt relatively doesn’t affect it’s operation. Too me it’s just more of a nitpick if anything.
Those requirements are mainly due too past incidents in history, I wouldn’t say neccessarily because it’s still an issue. Regardless, with how long the feed is in the BMPT, I still find it extremely hard to believe it would cause a catstrophic detonation. I think on one of the other forums about the BMPT, someone showed a video of it getting hit by a drone in the top section where the ammo was stored, all you saw was a minor explosion, but the vehicle was still intact.
But of course he used that just to say… look it “catastrophically disabled” the vehicle

Right, but again… (good video btw) reliability is something not modeled in this game… and there is no definite proof that russian 30mms have been jamming on the BMPTS because of their orientation. or on any platform teh 2a42 cannon or 2a72 cannon is mounted on for that matter

Show one where it does as you claim so first, that’s the whole point of this argument. Because this never happened. In case you didnt know, tank hulls are designed to withstand such blasts… But you’ve very clearly blurred the line between your real world biases and a video game

DEFINITELY. Every time i see a T-58 playing higher than its regular BR bracket, it becomes a priority target, because I know what they’re up to. It can basically overpressure ANYTHING just by hitting the front of their tracks…
Remains that way for me until I play it, lol.
