There’s a pattern here, I agree, but it shows us that premium tanks perform within the margin of error to TT copies, sometimes even having higher stats.
So no, 2S38 being a premium isn’t a valid reason for it’s bad stats.

1A5 isnt identical to L/44.
Also in the past, the release of any high-rank vehicle that can be bought right away resulted in the respective nations’ winrate to tank extremely hard.
Popular premium vehicles are always affected by inexperienced players spamming them.
Player-stats are influenced by various factors and can/should never be taken as a sole and definite metric for a vehicles’ strength.
Aside, russia is a major tech-tree (the largest ground tree in fact) and thus there are more players playing the vehicle, which causes the stats to tank as per normal distribution.
Just for the record, BMP-2M is the #9 and 2S38 the #10 most played ground vehicle of all time.
With a global stat-distribution of the following, their stats are not unexpected;

In oct and nov 2025, 2S38 was the most played ground vehicle.

My bad, I guess latter has marginally better mobility that comes with a worse shell. It’s surely the reason why it performs better than the TT 1A5, even in the hands of terrible wallet warriors.
And can also be a magnet that attracts experienced players looking for an easier way to grind out nation in question. I guess those two can cancel each other out, as seen in the stats.
Stats will average out after millions of games played, so it’s pretty much the best thing you can use to gauge vehicle performance, of course after you account for differences in average skill between major and minor nations.
Even if we account for that, I don’t see how 2S38 is overperforming, unless you think overperformance = 1.0 K/D.
I hope you can understand what’s wrong in this picture.
For something so brokenly OP I’d expect them to retain pretty high stats across their lifetime, but they don’t.
And no, there’s nothing indicating that premium (buyable) vehicles are suffering, stat wise, due to wallet warriors shitting up their stats.

bmpt has less combat loss than the abram in the current conflict, yet even loe2a4 a seen more succes that the abram.
did you think before you talk ? bmpt has insane fire power and can deal with trench/urban combat more that a mbt, of course its rare to see it as 80% of ukraine is flate and not city.
also if you think that bmpt has less range than the abram, you just are out of this world.
just a quick reminder that T90m has 550km with 2.9 L/km while the abram has 350km with 4.5 L/km

The turret and atgms straight up eat shot and dont get damaged at all.
I was noticing that yesterday, these things are basically immune from the front.
Anyone saying they dont need to be fixed/go up in B.R is just abusing them themselves.

Buddy it doesnt, the 30mm rounds lack penetration the guns are inaccurate but yes it can put down large volumes of fire.
One of the motivations for T-15 is lessons in Syria when the BMP-T performed poorly
