I appreciate your efforts, but imho production numbers were never an issue for gaijin. The main point is how the models after the E variants get back to a competitive level without forcing gaijin to admit that their current BRs in Air RB made them underdogs.
Even as i am not a fan of 109s i was always fascinated when i read about so called Höhengruppen eqipped with G-6/AS versions covering Sturmgruppen with 190s - whilst trying to perform mass attacks in a so called Gefechtsverband.
The 109s were stripped of additional / not deemed essential equipment (in order to lose weight) and provided top cover for 190s attacking bombers & fought P-51s at very high alt. They were painted in light blue - looking like that:
There are lots of sources which describe the 2 different engine versions - it boils down that one of them had with C3 fuel and MW 50 1.700 - 1800 hp…power loss started above 8 km.
Im mean if you look at the 4.7 La-7 with 1.920 hp engine it seems obvious that a Bf 109 G-6/AS with 1.700-1.800 hp should have the same BR. Together with the weight reduction the plane should be able to catch the 4.7 P-38…
That seems to be the BF109 V21 which I don’t think anyone has suggested in the new forum.
It was fitted with the Pratt Whitney Twin Wasp. We know this Aircraft was tested in 1939.
In 1940, the Germans decided to go ahead and make the BF109X which had the BMW801 from the Fw190. The BF109X was made from a BF109F whilst the BF109 V21 is built from the ground up, hence V21 (Prototype 21) instead of from an existing airframe.
There seems to be only 1 picture of that aircraft and it’s only of the front nose with nothing else visible.
A further stretch would be the ‘109’ engined with the Junkers Jumo 213, used on the D-series 190s and Ta 152s. Though, this aircraft is designated Me 209 rather than 109.
It shares the annular radiator with the 190s and 152s.
Another ‘109’ I don’t see on the forum, but that’s probably because it’s Passed to Developers back in 2019 or so. This one didn’t seem to feature weapons which could be an issue.
From Oct 1937, following successful tests with Bf109 V12 (W.Nr 1016, D-IVRU), surviving C-1s were modified to C’3 standard with wing nounted 20mm MG-FF.
A reconnaissance version of the E-3 built in small numbers and planned to replace Hs126 in front line units. A downwards pointing camera was fitted behind the cockpit and armament was reduced to just 2 cowling Mgs.
Camera being installed in recon 109
Closed up you cant essily distinguish its special nature.
The camera proved troublesome and units modified them back to fighters with wing guns reinstalled. Without seeing the belly or reading the data plate it would appear to be a standard early E. .
You get Emil performance with Bertha firepower. I would stick with just the production standard as the de-camered and upgunned aircraft would simply be to clise to ecisting tree variants.
