I can’t decide between the f5, f4s and f/a-18c early. Based off of what you’ve seen in battles and stuff, which one is the best, while also accounting for the ease of use (for anyone)?
I would be using it to grind the whole US tech tree.
F-4S, not even a contest.

The F-4S is incredible. Both as a fighter and base bomber (tho base bombing should be treated as a side objective and not a main priority)

Ive not flown any of the 3, only fought against them and chatted with people with them
F-5C requires being confident in a dogfight, especially using the gun, though doesnt require you to be knowledgable on how to use SARH missiles. But you still need to be competant in defending against missiles. In a downtier, it is very strong.
F-4S sits at a tricky BR, where it is both strong and simutaneously outclassed in basically any uptier. capable, but there are vastly stronger aircraft not that far above. Its also the strongest base bomber of the 3. Now I would not recommend solely base bombing, but hybrid is quite effecient (running a few napalm whislt also running a full A2A fit). It does require knowledge of SARH combat to get good performance out of it. But it sits just low enough that you wont face too much in the way of Fox-3s.
F-18C is very strong with its Aim-7Ps, perhaps even borderline OP at 12.7, but you sit right below the Fox-3 BRs and you need to be very confident in all-aspects of missile combat and dogfighting. It is probably the hardest of the 3 to master if you are new to the higher BRs

Grinding an entire tree with the F-18C will be just masochism, most of the time it will face 13.3 and 13.7 lobbies.
Also you only have 3 rank 9 jets and they are all meh except the F-15 GE, which is good at the BR it’s at, but you fight 14.7 almost all the time anyway.
The best experience in top tier for US will just be either the 13.7 F-16C or F-15C, and they aren’t even strong at their BR.

I’ve not flown any of 3 as Morvran did, but according to my pov which fought against them
(Well, I flown F-4JUK which is straight worse version of F-4S tho)
F/A-18C Early might be best in paper, and it is even borderline OP,
but you need to consider those damn Su-30 premiums.
F-5C is nasty bastard which got quite much of ahistorical buffs, and it kicks ass on downtier, but it has high skill bar because it’s missile is not designed to kill something, and you can do things smaller and smaller at uptier unless you are hard-sweating F-5 fan with heavy skill.
F-4S is solid option, one of Best 12.0BR jet except that Tornado F.3, might not as op as F/A-18A or F/A-18C Early does, but it doesn’t need to face those cursed Su-30 premiums at 13.3 lobby because it is 12.0BR jet, and it’s arsenal are also solid, AIM-7F paired with early PD radar and HMS, napalm bomb or Zuni rockets which are fancy if you want to bomb base instead of dogfighting.
Long story short: all three are nice betting, but if we reaaally need to choose either one of it, F-4S might be best choice, and F-5C might be worst.
