R27et but better and more 🤷♀️
Yeah doesnt really sound like a recipe for top tier domination, does it?
And is the R-27Et effective against aircraft with MAW?
Mid range it would be the best ir by far while still pulling a lot. It’s a very strong missile
Sure but there is not really a gap for midrange missiles on the EFT.
Like dont get me wrong, its for sure nice to have but ive never really had a situation in the EFT where i though “oh man id really want a midrange IR missile rn” but plenty of “man a close range missiles that actually pulls would be nice”
It is. Literally the exact ranges where amraam doesn’t do amazing
Mainly just a range thingy. The IRIS-T will be superior at close range but it is very situational. With the ASRAAM you have some reach at least.
Depends on if Gaijin will add IIR. Then MAW will be practically useless, if you don’t have time to extend or use terrain.
You are forgetting the french butchering variable
Significantly better than the R27ET, since its IIR.
yes and no. MAW is good, but in many situations, it can alert to late (especially for IIR missiles from ground launch units for example)
Along side MICA for mid range, while Aim9x an cie should be significantly better for short range dogfights.
ASRAAM will have pretty stupid time to target, while MICA gets it’s range by lofting, so it’ll be slower despite a slightly better range on paper.
That’s absolute copium imo. IRIS-T will still be only effective under 10km, and seeing it’s only 50G currently, with an accepted report down to 40G, I’m not even sure it’s going to be much better than even the R73 in game (aside from the much better seeker). Meanwhile, the ASRAAM is goign to be a death laser for anyone who doesn’t have sufficient awareness. Even with a MAW, if ranges of the systems isn’t improve, won’t help much
Eh its alright after the buffs
“Depends on if Gaijin wants Uk stuff to be actually good”
Yeah buddy im gonna have bad news for you there
Well the MICA will be insanity regardless. Especially the NG IR.
I wasn’t talking about the Mica, just that the IRIS-T could face some more nerfs if some reports go through.
It’s virtually impossible to evade the missile, that’s not even the issue. Gaijin will probably merge different types of IRCCM.
Also, going back to this, but I don’t think there’s actually any sources that PIRATE slaves radar missiles tho ?
I have seen sources for PIRATE to slave IR missiles, and for PIRATE to slave radar, but not radar missiles.
There’s the whole discussion about passive ranging, but still doesn’t bring any actual sources stating PIRATE slaving radar missiles
IIR implementation is an universal issue. (not quite since russia doesn’t use it but you get the idea)
I’ll break the answer down into 2 different categories
Hardware and Loadout
Hardware.
At the moment, they are fairly equal, but there are some differences, current and future.
Currently
The German M-Scans like IRST and the German E-Scans have a slightly smaller FoR.
The British Typhoon gains LWR.
So defensively it could be argued the British one is slightly better, and offensively the German ones are slightly worse. Whether these differences are noticable enough to matter is a debate to be had.
Future
In the future, there are some more possible difference.
AMK might be nation specific, but being quite a major upgrade, I reckon it will come to all so I wouldnt worry about it too much.
But its ECM where there might be a notable difference, with the German Typhoons being fitted with AREXIS instead of EvoDASS. Now this is heavily dependent on how Gaijin models differences between ECMs, it might be irrelevant, but that would give the German Typhoon better ECM.
Overall though, I wouldnt worry too much about hardware differences.
Loadout
Loadout is where there might be bigger differences, but so far, most loadout options have been shared based upon “technical compatability”. So whether there will be a notable difference in the future is a bit of an unknown.
But the big differences for A2A would be:
ASRAAM vs IRIS-T
ASRAAM is the superior missiles in short to medium range BVR (10-30km)
IRIS-T is the superor missile in a close range (0-10km)
If you prefer close range aggresive dogfighting, go for a German or Italian Typhoon with IRIS-T, if you prefer defensive BVR combat, go for the British Typhoon with ASRAAM.
All 3 should get Meteors.
In CAS… I dont know, Technically Britain, with Brimstone 3s, Spear-3s, Spear-EWs and in the future Stratus. But they might all end up on all.
But right now, technically the German one is slightly better because it has HOSBOs giving it more FnF weapons, though its a minor difference overall because they are all pretty bad weapons.
As of now, all IRCCM work the same way, using a very narrow FoV IRCCM combined with seeker shutoff IRCCM. They are still somewhat flarable frontally at 3-5km and above, but any other aspects is usually a death sentence.
Without flare rework, it’s going to be insane dodging 40+km range IIR missiles
An issue which so far theyve not addressed for quite obvious reasons.
Speaking of, has anyone actually seen or found the source used for that report?
Only if they improve IIR which they probably wont.
The funniest thing that could happen is Italy getting both ASRAAM and IRIS-T while the other 2 get stuck with their own armement ahah
Hasn’t happened yet and will only be on our EKs what don’t start deliverys until like 2030
