just a real quick question: which Eurofighter is the best rn and what about the future?
Depending on what you’re looking for.
CAS - German
AA - Every other

Yea, as Leo said. Briish or Italian. Pretty much the same.
German for CAS.
RAF/Italian for air superiority as they have 9M instead of 9L/i (same seeker but 9M motors are smokeless, harder to spot)
German one also doesnt have PIRATE IRST because the luftwaffe is stupid.
AESA doesnt make a difference. they are all the same between nations

It doesnt make a bloody difference, things have changed since additions. Germans get HOSBO, which is a JDAM ER but IR guidance instead of laser
Everything else is basically the exact same, IRST isnt really a used thing as we cant slave radar missiles to them (even tho we should be able to going off of brochures and avalable docs)

German one also has aim9ms.
But as you said it doesnt have the PIRATE IR search and track which im sure is very nice for people familiar with using it.
the german EF Aesa also has the earlier Captor Mk.1 with lower radar gimbal limits than the captor mk.2 that the italian and british version have. Which i think is the main advantage the gb and italian version have over the german one in air rb. Though not that big of a difference but it still helps launching fox 3s while basically being in a notch.
EDIT: ive been corrected that the german aesa ef has IRST so the only difference considering a2a would be the lower radar gimbal limit on the captor mk.1 to the mk.2 that italian and british ef have.

oh really? thats cool, maybe i need to fiddle with it a bit more. TWS on the aesa with manual radar controls and hmd are enough to handle most situations for me but irst might come in handy sometimes.
the german AESA also loses 10 degrees of gimbal, which is in a practical world a non issue so not really worth mentioning.
they all perform near enough identically, the variance is from players more than the smaller detail
;-) it can be quite an advantage should you end up in a joust with a similarly capable opponent, but well in those cases skill in general plays such a big role that a very good pilot would still easily win over someone even if that other person has a higher gimbal limit radar. it still is an advantage not having to turn as far and to be able to fire through tws on targets that are on the edge of the gimbal without having to turn all the time.

its a non issue that is only an issue for people looking for a reason to complain (beyond not getting AMK which isnt even really a thing yet)

Agreed. Its in most situations completely negligible on a jet that is or at least is among the best couple of jets in the entire game. Flying the german aesaphoon and then complaining because theres some jets with 10° more gimbal sideways, idk some ppl cant be helped.
Objectively its still a disadvantage, no matter how small it may seem. In a joust between german ef to italian/british it can help quite a lot. You can keep lock while notching, being able to launch and more importantly you dont lose track of where the enemy is and what hes doing while notching his missiles. Because of this its easier and quicker to reengage. And OP’s question was simply that: Which one is best (for air rb), so…
But yeah, those jousts that can turn into one of the 2 has to die or at some point none of them has fox 3s anymore are rather rare and more like the exception, as in the early stages of the match you could (as long as you have some sort of capable support by teammates) also chose to turn cold and let one of your teammates jump in before you spend all your missiles for one opponent that already has proven he can easily notch everything at long to medium ranges.
The British one has the most potential. Meteor + ASRAAM
I really dont get that hype for ASRAAM tbh. Top of the line IR missiles are really not that unavoidable in war thunder and compared to the IRIS-T ASRAAM doesnt really close a capability gap the EFT suffers from.

Depends if they decide to keep the trend of sharing weaponry but a uncucked iris-t would make dogfights impossible
