Begleitpanzer should realistically have APDS

only reason why id agree with it getting APDS is so it goes up in BR and makes mid tier less full of spamcanons

If I’m not wrong it was supposed to carry APFSDS but the information regarding that has been classified and since the project has been canceled they didn’t bother to declassify it and it remains at that. If you know someone who works for Thyssen-Henschel or Bofors remind them to declassify begleitpanzer 57 APFSDS and we will have it in game :D (of course at the cost of it going up in BR, somewhere around 10.0 maybe)

why is “It will go up in BR” a defense used by people who doesn’t want to see a vehicle getting better equipment. Fuck off, the whole point of adding better equipment is so it can sees stronger enemy whilst being strong in and of itself.

IRL it had APFSDS and an IRST for anti aircraft use.

the details of the ammunition are classified but this may be related (or not at all)

Burden of proof lies with the person making the claim

There is proof that the begleitpanzer had APFSDS and more.
I can share this at the moment:

This is EVIDENCE, not “proof” - what is the document?

Iirc its a Wehrtechnik issue

Correction:

It’s IDR

lol - I used to subscribe to IDR back in the late 70’s!! Shame I haven’t kept any of them.

However this looks aspirational - there is no evidence for ADFSDS for the 57mm Bofors Mk 1 other than that article by the look

There are various requests for any info available on it unanswered on several forums including here as below:

There is little to no info because its classified

There is this but i dont know if its even related

That’s an inference, because that reply does not actually say it is classified - it says there is no public information - which may mean classified or non-existent.

And if classified also says nothing about what system it was intended for or when it was built or even if it is anything more than a design proposal.

Then he wouldve said no information.
No need to say no public information if he could say no information.
Hence there was something.

The topic was abt the begleitpanzer so it is regarding this tank.

This thing is from 1977 and the closest it ever got to becoming real was in 1978 when a prototype was tested and canceled right after no one was interested in buying it and 46 years have passed since then
How much hope can someone have hope for a vehicle to keep info about it secret for 46 years
Do they like think that begleit will some day be revived and some country’s gonna buy it? And it’s not even gonna do anything much in modern battles, there are far better vehicles than begleit in modern times anyways

Sigh.
The gun used by the begeleight is the bofors 57mm which is a gun used by many navies around the world.
Hence the performance characteristics of a new round would be classified DUH

There are far better suited rounds to be used on naval vessels than a 57mm APFSDS

Who am i to say that no one wants APFSDS?
maybe it was a telescopic apfsds or idfk.
He said no sources that are public.
Period.
He didnt say sources.
The fact that he had to out public in there means something whether you like it or not.

It’s already OP, so, if you want A 2.0 BR bump, be my guest.

It would be great to move the begleitpanzer 57 up, it is a nightmare to face if the person driving has at least two braincells working.

APFSDS yes but apfsds nevertheless

First hand NATO sources aren’t always considered reliable. So i’d still bet on Wiki
