And it raises the question of when exactly did they start planning to add it
It has been informally mentioned as WIP several times before iirc… (also when they added both B2’s)
Ah well that answers that
But that was 8.5 years ago which raises other questions
Makes you wonder if the long-term plan was/is to have the 1A5BE be foldered under the AMX-30C2.
And that’s why it’s in that line.
Tbh i feel more and more pessimistic about the French TT and Benelux in particular.
There’s plenty of expansion in vehicles possible. Gaijin might not add all vehicles we want, but the potential is certainly there.
Expansion is a thing ; but im pessimistic about both that and the current state of our vehicles
Like bro i keep trying to spotlight the Sniper ATP & Radar HMD/ACM issue as it is something somewhat dear to me ; but there is not even any sort of official statment ; like a “yes” or “no”
Why doesn’t the Belgian Leopard 1 use Belgian ammunition?
From what i’ve seen ; i heard speculations that it was for balancing only to have a “fair” but solid 9.3 french Lineup.
Which imo is realy dumb ; it makes the 1A5BE pointless
If this is really how they want to do it, it should be transitory.
Leave it as is until AMX-30c2 gets added, then (say 3-6 months later) add the ammo, and preferably the Mexas turret as well, and adjust it to 10.0 or so
That is actually a nice counterpoint ; i just hope with time we will see more original content rather than once a year “stop gaps” being just pure copypaste
Just a small update: @panzerknoef has submitted a bug report regarding the Leopard 1A5BE’s combat weight.
The in-game vehicle currently weighs 42.5 t, identical to the German Leopard 1A5. However, the Belgian Leopard 1A5BE did not receive the Blohm & Voss turret armour package fitted to German Leopard 1A5s. This package was only trialed on a couple prototypes ( Leopard 1A5BE Prototype (1988)) While the visual model correctly omits this armour, the weight was apparently copied over from the Krauss-Maffei Leopard 1A5.
Based on the available sources, the Belgian vehicle should weigh approximately 41.6 t, around 900 kg lighter than the current implementation.
