This is absolutely absurd the way its setup. Get hit in a track? Too bad you cant shoot back due to breach damage. 2km away and behind a hill? Too bad they can shoot your barrel without missing. Arty round gets within 20m of you and think your safe? Nope your gunner was killed.
This game is garbage after tier 6. Every single hit if its not a kill disabled your gun breach or barrel. Sitting there for 30 seconds to repair? Who is the idiot that thought this up? Oh here, just repair your part and get back in it…too bad I am stuck sitting there so other tanks and walk up, brew some tea then decide to kill me. Or the real fun part, just sit there and grief me until I J out. Shoot barrel then have 30 seconds to shoot tracks, rinse and repeat so you can farm points.
Devs, in case you have no idea (what I think) the breach of a gun is the strongest part of the tank. Solid thick steel. Barrel is also extremely durable but no you keep stupid. There is ZERO fun in this mechanic and its the most fun stripping part of this game. Sitting there unable to do anything because a 20mm somehow blew up your gun breach.

To the chads and git gud crew…I dont care what you think. This post is NOT for you. Unless you are part of the people making this game, there is no reason for you to spend your time trying to dismiss this issue to protect the billion-dollar company. Go buy more premium tanks.
But you made this topic for us, not Gaijin, since this is you venting and moaning on a forum. This isn’t any constructive suggestion Gaijin would ever read or act on.
Absolutely true. Barrel or breach damage seems to be the default reaction from this messed up damage model. It used to be that turret cheeks were weak spots on a number of tanks and you could rely on hits, particularly with guns like the KV2s, would take out most, if not all of the crew. Now, it seems no matter where on the turret you hit tanks, Gaijin would have you believe you hit the gun and nothing else. I’ve hit tanks WELL away from the gun barrel and done no damage at all except for the gun barrel when it should have been an absolute tank kill. The damage model is so broken. Don’t even get me started on how bad the damage model is when you’re at close range (nose to nose) where shots do ZERO damage on a regular basis, regardless of weak spots.
The game has become largely “Fire at enemy, take a ticket in the Gaijin lottery, wait for ridiculous result of shot to be notified.”
