in Arcade thanks to the guided heli missiles 1 player with minimum skill can win the battle for his team…
In RB 1 heli w guided missiles can harass/bully/eradicate an entire team from a safe distance…
With unguided missiles/rockets it takes a lot more skill to change the course of the battle…
And in Arcade the helis should not spawn from the direction of your base… there is no such scenario IRL
I am not playing Ground modes to only be the next target for the heli-lovers…
there are even maps without significant obstacles for AAs to hide behind…
Ground battles should be won by tanks not by helis!..
SPAA spading is best done in arcade because of the helicopter spawning.
Helicopters are inferior to all SPAA because of ranging, so no the helicopters shouldn’t be nerfed.
To me at least, Helicopters feel like one extreme or the other, particularly at top tier.
If there is no SACLOS SAM’s present, they can absolutely ruin an entire team. But the moment just one of those SAM’s spawns and prioritizes the Heli, they either get rekt immediately, or are put under so much defensive pressure they can hardly do anything at all.
Just the other day I had a match in Ka52, I think I got 5 ground frags and 3 aircraft shot down, but for every match like that (where no AA or CAP focuses me), there are many more matches where an ItO, Flarak, ADATS or Pantsir domes me within seconds of taking off lol.
The only region I think helicopters have been historically, legitimately problematic in WT is like the ~10.0~ region, where often countries are limited to IR SAMs, that are massively outranged by the Heli’s with sight stabilized, 6-8km AGM’s.
Though I will note, Countries like ISR & Japan continue to suffer immensely against Heli’s even at top tier as they’re still limited to IR SAM’s. (Italy suffers if they opt to use OTO over OSA too).
In regards to F&F top tier Heli’s, I can’t really speak on these as I’ve not played one yet (Still grinding Spikes on my AH-60), I can see on paper at least how these would be problematic, but in actual battles I rarely ever see them actually pop off. So I’ll hold judgement until I’ve seen both sides of the coin here.
Massive skill issue post. Also just another CAS thread (I flagged), but about helicopters, which is funny because helicopters are less meta than fighters at top tier.
They are not great. You’re more of a nuisance than actually effective, but for every dozen or so you fire, one will eventually find a way to kill what you loosed it at.
This is often my impression just from observing others using them, just didn’t want to say it as I’ve not got the experience to back those words up lol.
Like theoretically, I can see how dumping PARS / Spikes at people on an open map, then dipping back Into cover would be effective. But also, in my experience using Spikes on Namer/KF41, they have a propensity to hit non critical areas (I.e leopards wedges, T-80/90’s roof ERA etc), and with Hellfire’s / Vikhrs it is only the ability to manually pinpoint aim where you hit that makes them effective.
I imagine the map plays a huge part too. Something with little vertical cover must be very important, as all too often with laser guided’s, people will drive behind tree’s / rocks / houses that break lock, but with manual control you can account for and re-lock, but with F&F I imagine the missile is just lost / wasted in these common moments.

Helis fire at 4km, Type 93 fire at them from 3.5km (mostly), I don’t know if the type of the heli matters or it’s size…
The only reason I can shoot down helis in Arcade is the experienced heli-lovers play RB… actually don’t play… they bully all ground players… 1 such killed all my vehicles hanging at 4km… even behind buildings… this is absurd…

Ka-50 often completely ignores Type-93 missiles…
but… SACLOS heli start at 7.7… what in that BR can get them… Bkan… how do I get it in the game - simple: I have to die first…
Until we have the ability to switch vehicles ingame without dying helis should not be able to decimate half the team…
8.7 can fire from 3.5km… at 8.7 what can get them at that range?!? what about 7.7 that are uptiered!?
simple - the players are so used to die they don’t care what kills them… from left and right and above…

For the type-93, you can fire further out than that if the heli is not hugging the ground. The IR sucks against helis but the optical works better.
Removing guided ordinance would require removing all SAM and radar SPAA.
