I noticed when playing helicopters, a single 30mm APFADS takes your tail off. It this shouldn’t be the case at all. It should simply cut a hole in one and out the other, only a HE or CE round should be able to completely sheer a piece of a plane or chopper off, same as for planes too, unless they are APHE, and have enough material to fuse on.
What if they used He?
They didn’t, it told me the shell type, it was the Bradley’s Sabot
This is likely the same issue that you see with heavy bombers loosing a wing or tail through MG fire.
The damage models are massively too simple for aircraft. So instead of creating a hole(s), the entire section… falls off
Yeah, we need “area specific” damage, not just “a whole section” damage.
Yep. A TOTAL overhaul of aircraft damage models is something I’ve wanted for years.
Take Heavy bombers for example. There is 0 reason the wings arent at least a dozen parts and same with the tail/fuselage. I am willing to bet that a damage model overhaul for aircraft would fix much of the imbalance affecting heavy bombers.
Also would help mitigate real-shatter quite a bit. I dont think canons are doing too much damage, but damage models are just too weak
