as always, thank you so much you actual legend
The new RWR looks promising on Dev 1, but the improved one will be really nice to have

As per the SHar FRS.1 (early), is it any ground to why it is early. If the only difference is less 9Ls it might as well be called SHar FRS.1 (limited).
Very nice cockpit though
The 4x sidewinder capability was added after the Falklands War. So the FRS.1 (e) is notionally 1978-1982 where the squadron FRS.1 is 1982-1993
However, the early high visibility Extra Dark Sea Grey over White paint scheme on the squadron FRS.1 is now ahistorical and only suitable for the FRS.1 (e). During the war, the white undersides were painted over with Extra Dark Sea Grey and the white part of the roundels painted out.
Later aircraft that arrived with 809NAS were painted Medium Sea Grey with “Barley Grey” under the wings and tailplane, and proper subdued markings.
The squadron FRS.1 should really be redone in all-over Dark Sea Grey (not Extra Dark) which became the standard paint scheme for the FRS.1 from 1983. I’m wondering if it’s something that a bug report should be written about.
Ed:- added link to photo of an FRS.1 being repainted
GR7 is based off the GR5. AV-8B and GR.5 were developed in conjunction with one another
AV-8B was developed first, then US wanted more funding (Britain couldn’t fund the “big wing” Harrier project on its own), and Britain chipped in and developed GR variants from the AV-8
Guys,
You think im starting to get a little too interested in the SHar / The Falklands conflict?
Ground Attack Falklands delivered today ))
Already seeing quite a contrast about the SHAR between David Morgans book (800NAS) & Sharkey Wards (801NAS)
Both speak highly of it, however as we know, Sharkey & 801NAS got much more capability out of theirs.
That’s great news and would make this pretty decent for Air Simulator as well.
Are you referring to the Sea Harrier? I didn’t think it had any of that stuff on the Dev server
Pretty sure he’s speaking about the Sea Harrier FRS.1s RWR.
Quickly notes down the other 3 books to see if there is an audible version
@Flame2512 @TPS_Hydra
Nevermind, I guess I must’ve mixed it up with the GR.7. We still have the garbage one
False alarm, apologies.
@Gunjob Do you know if the SHar is getting drop tanks this patch?
Now its getting its cockpit & radar, it could do with drop tanks.
(Along with its other missing munitions…CBU’s, Sea Eagle…)
I’d honestly prefer the Sea Harrier FA.2 get added this patch minus the AIM-120s (like the F-16D Israel or AV-8B+ Italy) than wait 20 updates and receive the Harrier FA.2 in a dry state. Without the AIM-120s but with the excellent Radar would actually balance the vehicle whilst making it top notch in game modes like Simulator or Air Realistic.

You good don’t worry my friend, as long as we are getting the cockpit remodel I’ll be happy.
Im really surprised they didnt use it as the test bed for AMRAAM, add them a patch early to 1 jet to test the waters. Like 9Ls on the Gr7. But I suppose this does mean if the SHar FA2 comes with hte rest of the AMRAAMs, then maybe it oculd be a test platform for the 9Ms instead
Not that I’m aware of.
Sad Harrier Noises
I know it’s a Sea Harrier but I’m not sure it’s rated for river operations.
If you want another book Harrier 809 by Roland White is very good account of 809’s expirence in the Falklands
Ill add it to my list.
Didnt 809 merge with 801 during the conflct?
Early trials for the Harrier to be adopted by the Silent Service.
