BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

They were split between 801 and 800 still they got up to a lot of interesting things in ther formation and trip down to the flaklands

I think this is suffecient evidence for shar to be added to the coastal tree 😛

Oh Sea Harrier of the lake, what is your wisdom?

I mean the Harrier GR.7 was added the last second of Drone Age in a surprise so I wouldn’t be shocked if the Sea Harrier FA.2 got added this patch with AMRAAMs for testing the waters alongside the AV-8B+. The chances of this is tiny though and unlikely.

I doubt the Av-8B. For US that would be insane on top of F-16 and all their other new jets. Italy is a maybe, but they just got a mass of ground vehicles this update.

The 2 that make sense to add it to would have be britain or Sweden at this point. But Shar FA2 is not that radically different from FRS1 and we did see that get finished, so its not beyond the realm of possiblity.

Could be sweden with the gripen, but that might not be a suitable test platform.

Pretty sure the AV-8 model is just a first placeholder/prototype build that got left in, rather than something imminent.
Along with the added GAU-12 mesh it’s got a lantirn pod attached on the centreline which AFAIK neither Italy nor the USMC ever bought (should be a litening pod instead). Also the Aden 25 and TIALD are still there left over from the GR.7 as well as BOL and Phimat on the wings

Ah yes the case of the River Yeo’s Swimming Sea Harrier
Add that to the story of the Harrier landing on a Spanish Container Ship.
And the other one about slamming a serviceable T.12 into the ground at Akrotiri

To quote Paul Tremelling (who it appears is rather rapidly becoming a demi god in this thread😂), “Nozzles that move presented an opportunity - well, many opportunities - to embarrass and/or kill oneself”

All hail Tremelling!

It’s gotta be the Sea Harrier Pilot’s holy book… right?

Got some good bits on doing CAS in the Gr7/9 as well. So maybe the British Harrier Holy book.

In that case, quick, lets find one on Jaguar. Maybe Mike Sutton’s account of the F-15 story will do in evidence for the flight model remodelling haha

Hehe, could be used for Nerfing the F-15 flight model :P That it oculd only keep up with Jaguar :P

Well hopefully Gaijin either gives the Sea Harrier FRS.1 (Late) this skin as a purchasable thing or give it to the vehicle as a standard camouflage.

Made a ticket in case any want to vote up on switching the squadron FRS.1 standard camo to a more appropriate post-1982 scheme now we have a separate “early” FRS.1

Great work!

When the FA.2 Comes, he’ll be the guy to ask Q’s

He has a copy of the Air Crew/Pilot manual for it, and keeps threatening to bore people with it on twitter…i mean X…

Yep to be fair we should probably ask before it releases so we have an idea of performance. Plus if its incorrect on dev we can head it off at the pass by reporting while its on dev and not repeat the Tornado F.3

I mean what purpose would it serve in-game without the addition of AMRAAMs? That was kinda the selling point, both Air and Ground capabilities but with that removed it’s basically just a Harrier GR.7 so I have a hunch they may implement it with AIM-120s like what they did with the Harrier GR.7 and AIM-9Ls.
