But it’s much better compared to the A-10. If 9Ls make such a bad airframe perform, same will happen to the SHar. They are fine where they are.
I personally just wouldn’t move the airframe around in BR. if this thing gets absolutely demolished on day ten in matchmaking then we could and should have that discussion. Personally i’m averse to moving it down as it’s one more plane with all aspects facing 9.0s. And 9.0s should never, ever, have to face all aspects, the vast majority of them are incapable of fighting or defeating an all aspect platform.
10.7 is fine and I think 1 stop lower is an appropriate difference for the FRS1e. Harrier’s might not be god tier flight performance, but with a well timed Viff. you can match most things in a quick turn. Just need to manage your energy and pull things into a lower alt
AV-8B+ is basically confirmed for Italy (probably not this patch) so I’d expect the Sea Harrier FA.2 to be ready for the next patch (excluding the upcoming one).
With the FRS1 “finished” slapping the Gr7 engine into it, a better radar and the other necessary tweaks should take them 30 seconds (or 10 years). So as soon as AMRAAM is added, I 100% expect FA2.
Harrier II for other nations is probably long overdue.
How exactly do you feel those two are linked?
Probably because its a harrier with AMRAAMs, at least thats how I think those are somehow linked.
*Actually not linked, but equivalent.
@HyJetV @galaxygms Turns out I was mistaken. I thought it used the same ARI 18223 RWR used by the Harrier GR.3 (which was terrible), but it turns out the Sea Harrier FRS.1 was upgraded to the ARI 18228 RWR (which was actually pretty good).
They are both Harriers with the ability to carry BVR Missiles.
Harrier Gr7 / Harrier II / AV-8B doesnt have a radar. (at least as far as I am aware none of them have a radar) and so no BVRs.
There was a plan to upgrade them into Harrier IIIs but that was abdandoned but that would have seen AMRAAM. I think the only harrier with AMRAAM or BVR of any kind was the FA2.
(though im not an expert, could 100% be wrong)
The AV-8B+ had a Radar and was able to carry the AIM-120 but earlier versions would be like the Harrier GR.7 in-game.
This is the variant I posted above earlier
Italy specifically might have been able to actually, your right. I dont think any US ones were upgraded that far, and certainly none of the British ones
“In 2000, the Italian Navy was looking to acquire 7 additional remanufactured aircraft to equip Giuseppe Garibaldi and a new carrier, Cavour. Existing aircraft, meanwhile, were updated to allow them to carry AIM-120 AMRAAMs and Joint Direct Attack Munition guided bombs.”
McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II - Wikipedia.
But it seems like quite a late upgrade. The question is, would they get such a late upgrade, or earlier AV-8Bs? I think intially they would get something akin to the Harrier Gr7 and then get the later Harrier II around the time we get Harrier Gr9, buts it possible
I think Gaijin might give Italy the AV-8B+ this update and give it the AIM-120 in the future or hold onto it like what they did with the Leopard 2 PSO. If they do decide to give Italy the AV-8B+ this update I hope the UK could get the Sea Harrier FA.2 minus the AIM-120s as well.
I seriously doubt this update. I really do and It could get added AMRAAM-less but it would be like 11.0 if that, it would be wierdly placed. I think its better to not get it till AMRAAM
Hu… interesting, im really out of date for my Harrier II info then. Thanks.
Can indeed confirm it gets an RWR which gives AI, AAA, and SAM radar warnings
It also gives types (at least as far as 2S6 is concerned)
goddamnit when is the US getting their own AV-8B NA and B+, it was already BS that Britain got the GR.7 when the NA wasn’t added despite the GR.7 being a modification of the AV-8B, no way is Italy getting a B+ while the US doesn’t get any B variant
