BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

The sheer lack of any CMs nullifies that. Besides Yak-38 is 9.3 with 4x Equal performance AAMs to SRAAMs with IRL performance

Wont be all-aspect though, That clearly is a balancing nightmare

But corrected range, fixes to the TVC at short range and maybe some better rear aspect angles., I think would be fine for 9.7, with the compression, maybe even over-BRed slightly

That is fair.
The Yak-38 is such a weird plane to place as it’s just so bad.

Yeah, it is. but I do wonder which Id prefer. Yak-38 with 4x R-60 at 9.3 or old Gr1 FM with 4x buggy SRAAMs at 9.7

In SB at the very least . I think I would find more fun with the Yak-38

Yes Yak-38 is much better than Old Gr.1 as it is faster and has better weapons.

They Still have not fixed the IR issues lol its now worse than before.

Make the mouse aim aoa limit higher and relate to the av8a flight manual max load limit.

Yeah, not surprised. By increasing the thrust, they have just made the harriers hotter.

@Gunjob has a suggestion to mitigate the Harrier’s heat issues using the F-117 code been passed onto the devs? If not, would a bug report outlining the issue and potential solution be worthwhile for me to submit?

Indeed they have I would like it if they changed the double CM drop to a singular one to so I only pop one flare and not 2.

Just in case there is any doubt about the FRS1’s missing symbology, this passage caught my eye when listening to the audiobook tonight at work

100% confirmation of IR symbology

Yeah, that may help, at least you could pre-flare more

I can add to this.
Not only does it have an IR marker it has a ranging unit that will tell if the missile has enough range IIRC.

It should also have a vector indicator as where the plane is going and where the nose is pointing are very different.

Ah nice, the radar UI already has that, but it is nice to have it on the HUD as well

Its fairly important for hard maneuvering. I also noticed that the Shar HUD has AOA markers all the way up to 20 units.

If they added the Harrier III (which would just be a GR.9A with the Shar 2 nose and Blue Vixen) then we could have a Harrier that can do very well in dogfights and do BVR with plenty of missiles

That could be cool but unfortunately one was never built irl so it would be unlikely.

It is more real than some of the vehicles at top tier. The only argument against it is that it wasn’t built but other than that we know how fast it would have been, how it would fly, what weapons it could carry and how they would be carried

True but gaijin seems to stick with if it wasn’t build it doesn’t get added.

At least with British and South African stuff, the F-16AJ is impossible and hasn’t been somewhat corrected

This is true.
The FA.2 is pretty capable now it just suffers from limited load outs.

I’m not saying it’s bad, the Shar 2 is very capable in air combat but the Harrier III would have the Stryker HMCS or HMD (not sure which) 8 missiles all with BOL and carry both cannons with missiles, not to mention Harrier II flight performance and engine
