BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

Nope, it was shorter, like 2 minutes then they made it like 5 or 10 now…. I would know, I have far too many hours in the buc not to.

Its a shame they never updated the RWR on the Sea Harrier at the same time as adding essentially the same thing to the Buc S2B.

Also, could the Sea Harrier get LSZ for the Aim-9Ls or is that a more advanced mechanic of later radars

could probably be bug reported if the Sea Harrier 1 used the same RWR as that which we have in game.

Slightly different model, but same functionality. And flame has already got a report in for it.

FRS1 should be really realy fun when it gets finished. Needs a new HUD as well

It will be really fun and we might have more DCS mains coming to play the Shar in Sim since it won’t be added to DCS, because the MoD won’t share info about a radar far from ones used by in-service planes with

1.No Pulse-Doppler mode

2.Short range

3.Unable to use work with SARHs

Literally have all the info needed for Blue Vixen already.

I know this is a WT forum, but Razbam can’t finish the Sea Harrier FRS.1 because the MoD won’t help with info for the Blue Fox being modeled properly for DCS

Funny you mention the radar. (2 days, but I didn’t see your comment until now)

I was just about to come in here and ask about it

Is it really as god awful as I’ve seen it?

Was doing an event custom yesterday, and I just couldn’t get any tracks from search radar, ACM wasn’t holding locks. These fights were at least 1,000ft up, and I was co-altitude, so Clutter shouldn’t have been interfering, the player wasn’t using Chaff that I could tell, and it just refused outright to establish a track from Search, and from ACM I got only one or two locks that were stable and held. Everything else just locked thin air or just didn’t lock at all.

I’m at a bit of a loss as to how a radar, particularly given the Phantom PD radar was a thing around the same time, could be so mind bogglingly useless

In theory the radar is very strong and good with what it does have, I just mentioned all the thing it should have had IRL and in-game

Edit: The Blue Fox got a lot of praise from Shar pilots in the Falklands for having far ranges against ship and good range against an A-4 sized target

The currently Blue Fox is as close as we’re going to get without more information. I have an order with the FAA Museum for the Nav/Attack manual but its very slow going as they need MOD clearance which is talking alot of time. Plus I expect it to set me back £300-400~ for the copying costs. (FAA Museum is expensive.)

DAP 101B-4802-15A Sea Harrier FA.2 Aircraft And Systems - July 2002

Impressive

Had a thought brought on from another thread about carriers.

Could Harriers like the Sea Harrier and Harrier II actually be launched using CATOBAR? Like we have in game?

Harrier II yes as spain does it

What? I’m not aware of any CAT and TRAP Harrier Ops. The Spanish have a ski jump.
