BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

Me sad pictures can be deceiving.

I know you said the Devs where working on the gunsight, is there anymore news about that?

My report for the Sea Harriers being able to carry 1000lb bombs on their outer wing pylons still hasn’t been passed sadly.

It’s odd as the Sea Harrier FA.2 can do it, but not the FRS.1 despite there being photographic proof that both can. The FA.2 is also lacking the dual bomb racks for the inner pylons, its all a bit confusing.

Not related at all I just thought I’d bring it up

Loadouts seem to be a wierdly secondary consideration at the moment, even though there are plenty of “easy” implementations possible.

  • Like no ePaveway IIs on the Typhoon and possibly Gr7
  • No Napalm on the Buc S2 or Sea Vixen
  • No 540lb retarded bombs on most airframes
  • no twin bomb carriers on the FA2 (as found on the FRS1)

The Lightning F.53 is also missing dual 1,000lb bomb racks (4,000lb total) and possibly napalm.

That would give it enough bombs to take out a base, making it actually a useful attacker.

If the Sea Harriers had their full bomb load, they could carry 7,000lb of bombs, which would be amazing for such a small aircraft

Yeah, that would make it a really good premium (wierd it was removed from sale so rapidly)

Theres the weapon loadouts, and sadly no the flare pods are not countermeasures they are immunination flares (thats what gaijin claims).

If it got overwing bombs the total load would be 6,000lb, which is even better.

I’d personally like to see the overwing fuel tanks first as I can’t see much reason they couldn’t be added right now.

We should totally get illumination flares :P

Dropping some lepus flares from the SHars owuld be funny

I will be honest. Bombs over the wings looks bizarre

It could certainly be fun for cinematics

If firing rockets can work as countermeasures, I can’t see why illumination flares couldn’t do the same too haha

and if strong enough, could even act as a mega flare, to help mitigate IR SAMs for teammates attacking

No SNEBs for the Bucc S.2B either. Just anaemic RNs

And I still don’t know why the Harrier FA.2 can load single SNEB pods on the inner pylons, but the GR.3 only has the option for 2x pods on a TSC there.
Or why the Jag GR.1 doesn’t have SNEBs but the GR.1A does. While the CRV-7s are on both, even though CRVs were introduced much later, in 1991 (i.e. for GR.1A/GR.1B)

Even for one basic weapon, implementation is patchy in the British tree.

We need BL755. That would be be the perfect addition for 2025 I think.

It would be pretty fun, is it a shaped charge based cluster munition?

Yeah…

I am almost convinced then when it comes to weapon assignment. Its a matter of lucky draw rather than historical fact

I think so? At least I know it was capable of Anti-Tank and was the prefered weapon system vs tanks on the GR1

Spoiler

Tornado Gr1 prefered weapons

Yeah it seems so, I guess the main issue is gaijin getting them to work without putting everyone down to 10 FPS

Yeah. 1x Tornado dropping 12x BL755s would be the same number of “entities” as 3 (and a little bit) F-111As all firing off their entire supply of rockets at the same time. The game server seems to be able to handle that, But I wonder if it could manage multiple Tornados at once. (I still remember when heavy AAA ships in naval would practically crash the match if they fired their AAA)

phantoms taking rocket pods was a way people trolled a couple years ago, theyd set firing to series and just watched. server killing results came from 3+ people doing it at the same time.

i thought its still possible to crash a server with heavy AAA ships no? renown, baltimore, alaska and etc?

I knew I wasnt a crazy person for believing the Lightning had overwing bombs!
