May have been I was pushing the limits prior, and now it’s just properly borked on landing. It isn’t too important given I can just jettison the unexpended stores, but still confused me a bit at the time. Just wish it had an indicator somewhere :(
Yeah, you never know. Just wish we had a fuel dump mechanic as well, so if you were above the max hover fuel. You could dump down to pretty near it
That would help too.
Yeah, i’ve had SB matches where i’ve taken off the SHar, immediately fired all weapons defending the carrier and had a hairy landing because I had like 25 mins of fuel :D Which is about double the max fuel wieght for VTOL
Generally why I put the VTOL payloads together, it was prior to being able to ditch rubbish into the sea with a keybind if you expended some but not all (such as only loosing 1 AAM). It isn’t all too important a change, just felt weird to not be able to land with stores compared to ages back.
Was checking it all to make sure it was sim ready for when I return to it in the next week or two, and discovered it no longer worked good 😿
Just tested it, with that full warload you laid out above (including a 25mm ADEN pod) If you start your approach to the carrier about 13 minutes of fuel, by the time you get alongside, you’ll be down to 10 minutes of fuel and can easily hover without water injection. I had to use a short burst to increase my alt a little, but was otherwise flying in formation with the carrier quite happily at about 10-11 mins of fuel with no water injection
Neat, so my efforts aren’t a complete wash in the several years since I set it all up \o/
You guys land with tons of fuel left. My ball park is to leave CAP with around 1000 lbs and land with the remainder.
(Than I remembered the fuel weight gauge in the Shar cockpit seems to read KG and not Lbs)
Some of us like having fuel to go well into the back of the red 😿
Just sometimes we’re intercepted before that happens.
1000 lbs of fuel on the Shar is about 1/5 it’s total fuel and is plenty to deal with an attacker
Tut tut. Below minimum fuel requirements for a diversion :P
Gr7 is what we were discussing unless I got lost along the way.
Sharkey said no one back on deck with more than 1000 lbs lol
You get 7500 lbs of fuel and an airframe that weights more so it’s hover abilities are lessened
Which is why Gr7 was specified :p
Fair enough, the Mk.107 for a Gr.7a would solve this issue lol
Or we don’t fix it, so we can justify another harrier instead, then fix it later
There would be 0 difference apart from the engine though.
Well, they aren’t fixing the targeting on this one, they might on a new one. 😿
Doubt it they hardly fixed any of the things I brought to their attention.
