No, Idra (aspide mk2) and active skyflash were not related
You can set a keybind for the TIALD via “shooter optic” or something and then have another keybind for external view. That’s what I do as I had the same problem, but a way to disable certain cameras would be nice.
Does anyone know if there was any ability for the GR.7 or GR.9 to mount racks that could carry more than one bomb/missile? I’m excluding the brimstone ones and am more interested in whether or not the British harriers could mount several paveways on a pylon like the AV-8B Plus can.
Not in a realistic way. The UK primarily didn’t use the same Paveways as the US, and stopped using multi bomb racks before Harrier II.
UK Paveways haven’t been certified for carriage on those kinds of racks and AFAIK the racks aren’t compatible with the UK’s LEFA+MFBF safe arming and fuzing setup.
Preferred bombs for the GR.9A were dual-mode Paveways with GPS/INS capability: Enhanced Paveway II or Paveway IV. The US’ BRU-70 DITER capable of using GPS/INS bombs bombs like these, wasn’t in service until after the UK retired its Harrier fleet.
The only possibility would be carriage with GBU-12s from US stocks but there’s no evidence of this ever being done on a Harrier GR.7 with the non-digital TER-9 like the US do it with AV-8B.
And Harrier GR.7 from great britain tech tree armed dual-mode GPS & Laser guided Enhanced Paveway II 1000lbs and GPS/INS Paveway IV like Harrier GR.9/GR.9A ?
Enhanced Paveway II were used on Harrier GR.7A from 2005, but Paveway IV’s integration was part of the Harrier GR.9 upgrades which started being delivered to JFH a few months later.
I don’t know if EPW’s GPS mode from GR.7A was limited to pre-programming coordinates on the ground/flight-deck before launch, or whether updated coords could be punched in by the pilot during flight, or establish target coords using a laser targeting pod like GR.9 could do.
So basically the MoD wanted to give it a shit gun with no ammo and say to the RAF pilots, “There is your new super advanced Harrier, go blow up Arabs and Argies please.”
P.S. When I said the Aden 25s where bad I meant compared to the amazing GAU-12.
But the lack of basic on airframe countermeasures are very annoying.
Edit: But I am grateful for the extra rail for AAMs
The GR.5/7/9 have two ALE-40 dispensers in the underside of the fuselage. And they were pretty much always intended to use the BOL rails for extra countermeasures (at least two of which would always be able to be carried without losing any weapons due to the outrigger pylons).
I know that
Also that but if a base doesn’t have any BOL CMs left they are screwed but if they had the same countermeasure dispensers behind the trailing root of the wing (like the Yanks had) then they would have a lot more regular CMs.
So I don’t mind gajin add Enhanced Paveway II on Harrier GR.7
After Harrier GR.7 maybe Harrier GR.9 from Royal Navy but without ASRAAM, Brimstone and Storm Shadow
Harrier GR.9 would be class Strike Aircraft/Naval Aircraft like Harrier GR.7
No, there would be nothing special about it then, but a GR.9A with HMSS, ASRAAM, Brimstone and Storm Shadow would be the best real Harrier in-game.
P.S. It could also carry AIM 120s but IRL relied on AWACS for missiles guidance.
At the end of the day, Harrier GR.9A limited IR AAM like Harrier GR.7. but Harrier GR.9A armed 5th gen IR and better targeting pod & guided Air-to-Ground armament
I saw Ixtav posted from this thread
I’ve seen the thread
I don’t remember where I saw it being said, but the GR.9 could carry AIM 120s IRL
Edit: I think @Gunjob mentioned it early in the forum
However, British Harrier II never deployed AIM-120 AMRAAM in RAF & RN service and limited IR WVRAAM only. Sea Harrier FA.2 only launch AIM-120B AMRAAM
Not me Chief, well not that I remember.
towards the end of life after the SHar 2 was retired, the GR.9 was cleared to carry them, but had to MADDOG the missiles that would then data link with a nearby AWACS.
The GR.9 was given this to work as a makeshift stock gap until the F 35 came in (which was supposed to happen in 2012, the 2015, then 2018).
I never saw Harrier GR.9 & GR.9A armed with AIM-120C
I don’t know new strike aircraft after Harrier GR.7 & Harrier GR.9A on great britain tech tree
