Aussie servers

will there ever be a Australian/oceanic server because me being a Australian normally plays at around 239 ping and 5% pl but alot of the time that will spike to higher ping (<500) (50% pl) and it can make playing the game very difficult

Aussie here. Been playing this game a long time, almost exclusively on USA server. You should be getting zero PL at all times, apart from very rare instances when Gaijin’s servers are playing up. If you’re getting PL, that is an ISP issue. Yes, ISP matters. I’m with Launtel, they’ve got me down to 210-220 ping for US server and 110-120 with SEA. When I was with Superloop, my ping was 20-30 higher. Choose an ISP that actually cares about international routing. If your ping is spiking and PL is occuring you’ve got bigger issues.

As for the server - there isn’t even enough people playing on the SEA server a lot of the time, let alone having an Aussie server. You already have the SEA server there if you care about the better ping, either way. This isn’t Counter Strike at the end of the day, and I never use ping as an excuse for anything. I don’t think it’s an issue at all playing at 210-220.

So what is your ISP? lets start there. You on the East coast? I’m in Victoria.

i am also a victorian and with iinet but i dont know what SEA is i have NA EU and CIS

South East Asian (or South Asian, I should say) server. It’s in Japan. Gaijin changed the server selection for the worse a while back. If you put the server on autoselect you’ll get games on the SEA server and you’ll get 110-120ish ping.

For your packet loss issues - you can email iinet support, or post in the iinet section of the Whirlpool forums (https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/90). iinet got bought out by TPG. If you want a top-tier provider, I’d go Launtel or AussieBB.

For requesting ISP support - it does help to find the actual server IP of Gaijin’s US server and then do tracerts and what have you. Gaijin doesn’t list the server IPs, you have to find it yourself. Or just switch to Launtel as I’ve been working with them to make sure War Thunder routing is good as can be.

(Obviously if you’re still on something like HFC (cable internet), I understand ISP selection is limited. I’m on FTTP)

Probably never. Servers cost a lot and there aren’t enough people in the region to convince Gaijin to give you dedicated servers. Shit sucks, but it wouldn’t be Gaijin if they spent money to better the experience of their customers.
