To start off this topic, i ask why the aubl-74 BR is so much higher than the pt-76? Yes, i do agree both of these vehicls listed are pretty sad for what they are, but the aubl-74 is literally impossible to play. my question, what does the aubl/74 do better than the pt-76 for them to have an insane BR difference (aubl/74 6.7 | pt-76 5.3). To start off with some similarities between these 2, you may know that they are both amphibious light vehicles and they have cannons in which fire poor quality HEATFS. To the differences it comes to PT-76 has a 2 plane stabilizer along with it swimming capability in which appears to perform better than the aubl/74. And yes, the aubl 74 is a speedy vehicle yet it lacks the stabilizer, and without its stabilizer, the aubl/74 is not stable on the move AT ALL, nor is it in the water. I tested the aubl/74s swimming capabilities along with the pt-76, and to the results, the aubl/74 has a problem which annoys me being the fact that it bounces around even in calm waters meanwhile the pt-76 does not suffer from those issues along with the fact it features the stabilizer. Now i do find only 2 benefits from the aubl/74 apart of the pt-76, that being the aubl is faster and its shell has much better pentetration than the pt-76, but the shell that the aubl/74 is not much different than the pt-76 also having a really bad HEAT shell as i noticed, they dont do all that much damage. Lets also mention that the PT-76 out-reloads the aubl/74 with the compensation of being a low caliber. To wrap it all up, i believe the aubl/74 should not have this high of a BR difference from a tank in which is mostly similar without it being in the same tree. I just dont think the aubl sitting up that high in BR is fair as it faces many unfair advantages and is just impossible to get kills with.
That’s a detailed analysis!
Sadly it means very little, as Gaijin has stated they balance vehicles based on economic performance, not technical specs.
I am tempted to attribute most of the BR difference to the “minor nation tax”
Minor nations generally attract fewer casual players than the major nations, leading to higher ratio of skilled players. The skilled players perform well in their vehicle, leading to the vehicle being up-BR’ed beyond the level the technical specs would otherwise suggest.
Pretty sure that the Aubls/74s mobility is on a completely different level than the PT-76.
Much faster turret traverse, gun depression and faster reverse speed.
The only advantage of the PT-76B is the stabilizer, which makes it barely useable at it’s BR, since for a light tank it has very poor mobility.
I do notice how the aubl/74 does happen to have better maneuverability yet there is still issues in which those i list of is how the aubl/74 sucks at swimming for it to be an amphibious vehicle (bounces is calm water) along with the longer reload time its given. Also despite the aubl/74 without the stabilizer, i have this vehicle an ELITE unit and from my tests, even with all modifications, the aubl/74 is just not stable at all in which i say makes it impossible to play.
Please, break some lines next time,
PT-76B only good point is the reloading speed and the, as mentioned, 2 plane stabilizer, but everything is far inferior than FIAT AUBL/74,
- The poor penetrating power of the 76mm cannon at 0°, 30° and 60° compared to the 90mm,
- Mobility in-general, but, specifically forward and backwards maximum speed, horizontal and vertical turret and cannon controls. It can swims but what the matter with when we barely have maps with water, and when he have to play one is worthless when you can easily transpose the bridge in Eastern Europe or just forget about that hill after the river in Alaska?
- Worse stock experience: PT-76B starts with APCR which in the BR it sits is horrible, you mostly depends on scouting, then you get APHE which barely gives any result but against medium (in determinated circumstances) and light vehicles THEN you get HEATFS, it is if you ignore the APHE and just jump into the HEATFS,
FIAT AUBL/74 is way more superior in terms of performance and combat capabilities, if you only argument are “They both have bad HEATFS but PT-76B sits in lower BR than the AUBL/74”, or “AUBL/74 doesn’t have stabilizer, it is amphibious but is useless in calm water” or even “They’re similar light tanks” I must say no - They have the BR difference just because AUBL/74 capabilities:
- Way faster than the PT-76B; can easily take spots by the start of the match to snipe or scout targets, in counterpart, with PT-76B, you mostly will be moving with the medium vehicles when the light tanks would be already positioned,
- Stock HEATFS in a good BR, 6.7 at this time is a very comfortable BR to play, even more with fast vehicles and Chemical weapons as HEAT ammunition, despite the damage, with both vehicles you can easily take any target by simply shooting the ammunition (muscle memory, or any sort of things like that),
I just hope that this thread doesn’t turn like the OTOMATIC Nerf BR you did yesterday, well, as Italian main you should consider that Italian vehicles, specially around 8.0 to 9.0 you got better options over the Soviet units and with that I hope you aim to the vehicles you’re specialized with, I mean, Italians.
The mobility of the AUBL/74 is better than the PT-76B (along with having somewhat more pen on its HEATFS), so I’d say it makes sense for them to be separated by at least 1.0 BR. Sadly, I think the lowest the AUBL/74 could go is 6.3, and even then a lot of people would complain about it.
Imo, the AUBL/74 should be kept at 6.7 but the C13 T90 should be moved down in BR to 6.7 and then foldered with the AUBL instead of the FIAT 6614. The AUBL is pretty much a victim of compression and “historical matchmaking” folks.
