Atgms

What in the all that is mighty has GAjin done now to the ATGMS??? What a joke, they now shoot into the sky before coming back down uncontrollably!

They made the change to make it more realistic. ATGMs are meant for long range, and have real problems in early flight.

Problem isnt atgms its just the maps are awful for them.

Later ATGMs are much better.

A big issue is that the gunners sight is from the end of the barrel, not the gunners optic; this leads to the ATGM unrealistically moving to where the autocannon is pointing instead of where the gunners sight is pointing

Um well Gentlemen I know first hand that none of what you have stated is true, I was in the 41st (mechanized) Infantry armored division and I know first hand that an atgm launched from the Bradley does NOT in FACT go sky high first before coming down! It is controlled by wire and shoots from its launcher where u aim it! PERIOD!

I don’t suppose you have a clip of what you’re talking about?

TOW missiles being worse than MILANs but putting them 2BRs higher

Ok so a couple questions

What tank where you using?
What atgm?
Where you on an incline?
And do you have a game clip of this?

More realistic in one sense, yes. All ATGMs fly according to a physical model with control surfaces, like an aircraft would.

However, the terrible PID controller tuning for all ATGMs and arbitrary limitations on guidance automation set by the devs is extremely unrealistic.

In the sense that ATGMs were accurate and capable of hitting things according to real world manuals, current ATGM implementation and handling is significantly less realistic.

I’ve done this spiel twice before, and the “drop” is completely unrealistic for all SACLOS systems. That is something that Javelin and Spike have, not SACLOS missiles. Having to personally compensate for excessive correction by the PID controller is also incorrect. It should be rather obvious that the missile wobble is unrealistic.

Agree, atgm’s are currently at least since the latest update, once being fired flying upward out of the launcher, when it is in the horizontal position. In real world, when the atgm was fired it would ever so slightly drop but it would carry on to target as aimed, it WOULD NOT fly upward unless it was guided to do so. I can only suggest for gaijin to actually go and You Tube the Bradley using the TOW in real life.

@ maybe 3 years ago the ATGM actually worked very well. You could see it all the way to target and it was not so glitchy. I believe this is one of those items that should have just been left alone since it was closer to real world than it is currently.

all tanks with separate atgm such as marder and pbv 302 have independent atgm control now, except the bmp1 for obvious reason (Russia vehicle)

What does that have to do with the flight / launch characteristics we are talking about?

Well, the BMP-2, which is Russian, was the very first vehicle to receive this feature, so idk what your point is.
