whats the reason for some anti tank missile not being able to fire on the move?
many of these have stabilizer and use different missile and platform but all share the same issue, for a long shot that requieres high accuracy i’d understand the players would refuse to move for better accuracy but i dont understand the logic of this issue
at first i thought it was the method being either cannon or launcher but some like bmp2m can still fire on the move while having the configuration of a launcher instead of a multipurpose cannon so thats not the case
Because most NATO atgms are wire guided until u get Spike while Russia get beam riding missile (bmp 2m) or radio guided (It-1) so they are able to fire on the move. Technically u can fired TOW and such on the move but there is a risk of the wire being snapped.
But then there are also multiple vehicle with beam riding missile yet are unable or only able to fire at super low speed (AFT9, QN506, Roland, Stormer,…) yet u can’t fired those while on the move. Curios.
i struggle alot with this on AFT09 close combat lol cuz if youre moving it takes about 3 second for a full stop to be able to attack, in a game where people shoot at you as soon as one pixel shows in their screen thats a massive disadvantage
i once saw in a youtube video that there was a way to move within that limit of speed but i dont remember how
because irl, the wire only transmits the guidance commands.
the launcher itself has an optical/IR goniometer which tracks the position of the ATGM relative to the crosshair.
it is the goniometer that is decoyed by the IRCM. not the missile.
later generations of ire guided missiles like TOW-2 and HOT-3 etc have coded pulses. which allows them to be immune to IRCM.
No, it’s to prevent the wire breaking or tangling. It could be considered a doctrine choice which usually aren’t modeleld but it’s not a big deal as long as it’s applied evenly.
And the concerns are valid, abilty to fire on the move is given out very selectively,.
RE the bmp-2, that autocannon is in desperate need of an audit. It’s… significantly more accurate compared to its actual real life performance.
My report on the Bradley getting radio guided TOW-2A/B Aero is still sitting as a suggestion, even if it is inplemented and the launcher deployment mechanic corrected (that is, removed entirely), I can still bet they wouldn’t allow it to fire on the move just like the AFT09 curiously can’t, like you said.
Also the ZTA3 can’t fire on the move despite this being reported and accepted multiple times now…they really aren’t beating the Russian bias allegations…
