So, this counts for all but a few atgms. And I am probably missing some details here because i may not fully understand the damage stats.
But why is it that almost all ATGM’s share the same spalling pattern? I get that the damage the spalling itself does, does indeed scale. But in the end, you can have all the damage in the game, it won’t do much if said damage cone doesnt actually hit anything.
As far as i can tell the RB-53 bantam
Spoiler

that thing, has almost identical post pen, to a 9M123 khrizantema.

to add, what i mean when i say they mostly share the same, all but the bigger SALH missiles, have this in common:

while those other specific few get this

which is why, iirc, they get to do a lot more damage.
so why cant we just have more variety? there is no universe in which a 7kg atgm should do nearly the same amount of damage as a 152mm, much heavier, atgm

The problem with missiles is that they’re HEAT missiles, and the developers have modeled them somewhat poorly. It seems like all missiles do the same damage, while in reality, HEAT missiles do more or less damage depending on the penetration remaining after piercing. For example, if a 500mm penetration missile pierces 400mm armor, it will do damage, but if it pierces 300mm armor, it will do more damage.

I might be wrong here as i haven’t researched this specific topic very much, but i think HEAT in general doesn’t create much spall IRL (more than the liquid copper that comes through the hole on the other end).
The more explosives a HEAT round has the faster that beam of molten copper moves and the more material (armor) it can go through. Once it gets through though it’s likely going to be similar in “spall” as most of what is the spall is molten copper flying around inside the tank, heck some of the time it’s still might be a beam that exits the other side of the vehicle instead of bounce around in there or spread out.
Somewhat wrong. Shape of the charge affects the post pen and penetration. That’s why a maverick can have 50kg of he equivalent but only pen 830mm of rha; the hole its making is less of a beam and more of a blast.
theres a fair bit wrong here but not much worth going into.
because they still did it for a select few atgms. and its kinda dumb to just single those out like that
Do you mean that there are other ATGM’s of the HEAT type that do not have the same pattern of spall?

some have this preset. the hellfires, mokopas, akd-10, etc.
so they already bothered doing it for those.
which is why it kinda pisses me off that we have the bantam doing the same damage as a kornet
