Asymmetrical Battles Await You In the “Advance” Event!

Pretty sure it was more than 3 days, almost certain it had another day added or something.

a BR change would only change the favored team if it were to go to 6.7 it would heavily favour america so i doubt that would fix anything in particular (yes right now germany is heavily favoured).
i would generally like to see the mode be extended to a normal game mode where you can just randomly load in and have regular up/downtiers but they cant really do that to test a mode because queue times would get horrendous.
they might swap it up for the next test with a few improvements on the capture system or at least thats what i hope for.
i agree that running this alongside other game mode events is one of the choices of all time aswell

@Stona_WT

When will we see comments from the devs about the feedback the community provided for Advance? I enjoyed playing the mode for the most part and think there were some solid suggestions as how to improve Advance.

Also it was fun playing the 3 version of Port Novorossisky again, any chance we could see this map back in regular rotation?

Good game mode. I hade quite a bit of fun!
It allowed me to use tanks to their fullest and in ways the normal mode doesn’t allow. The maps are relatively fine, but I’d suggest to tweak a bit the spawns to avoid almost immediate spawn to spawn sniping and general spawnkilling.
Also I really liked the br choice!

Good job and I hope this will return soon.

What a shame they have not had this in the rotation for years so that it could be refined and improved by this point.

I think it’s great to see Gajin thinking about maps and modes more, not just the semi-gatcha grind sandbox.

Are they realizing that that they don’t have an End Game that many people care about like most MMOs? eg raids or pvp arenas.

At least from my perspective I’m never going to enjoy watching people play a part of the game that is boring an inaccessible, so things like Floats and Advance would be more interesting for esports too. (1.0 non reserve boats ftw :)

yeah theyre addressing points people have been bringing up for the last few years finally its very good, itll be nice to see them improving it over the next while till it can be introduced properly, though hopefully it isnt the end of the gamemode innovation

what? how is warthunder anything near a gacha game

very repetitive gameplay, minimal RPG-like mechanics, with meta progress as a major incentive but instead of pulls we have a tree

yep it ruined abc random games for me.

Hope it will come back soon…!

Thats like the single defining feature of what a gacha game is

What youre saying is that like cod with a tech tree would be a gacha game

I would like a tweak to the mode.

the game starts with both teams trying to take the middle cap point and push back the other to their HQ.

It would allow both teams to get a chance to attack and defend while almost completely eliminating the camping issue.

also means people wont crash out because they arent getting put on the defend/attack side that they want

grind + an unlock structure + generally FtP (3 elements) so yes that would potentially be semi gatcha, I’ve only played CoD1 so have no idea how it works today

the only defining feature of a gacha game is the game being cored around a mandatory gambling mechanic to obtain items or progression

warthunder is not centred around anything like that so is not a gacha game, its just a standard MMO combat game

I didn’t even get a chance to play it. Looked awesome. I’ve been hoping for a Rush style mode for ages now.

The word gacha comes from gachapon, which is a Japanese term describing the sound of toy capsule gambling machines. Gambling is the defining feature of gacha. War thunder’s gambling is limited to uncommon loot boxes

yes that could be really good, they should also add this :)

could also fix the ‘I wanted to x’ by having 2 consecutive rounds so you get one attack and one defend per map. This would also help with unbalanced matches which can drag on if defenders are greatly superior, or end very quickly if it’s the attacker who is.

A really solid idea man.

WT’s model is clearly “constant expansion”. That usually means vehicles but it can also mean mechanics, the arrival of infantry etc. And they know how to buy time for themselves. Look at ground, where over the last period of time they’ve started adding a lot of utility vehicles, while in the meantime new game modes are being worked on.

i would like that kind of thing. Battlefield 1 had a similar thing with operations going across several maps within a campaign. I dont think it would really work for WT as this is much more of a “pick up and play” for 30 mins than play an online campaign for an hour or two game for most. would risk a lot of people backing out after the first round.

Guildwars had something with 5 maps:

side A fortress
side A defense advantage
balanced (starts here)
side B defense advantage
side B fortress

It was a meta game that changed maps every day(?) depending on the combined results of the previous period - in the WT context I don’t think there was such an obvious progressive advantage when moving through the points.

However, as a game based in reality this is vastly more difficult for them to achieve. if it was a fantasy setting the game would be easier to balance, and with casual players you just end up getting some pissed off players thinking ‘I knew where to go as B fell on port novorossiysk but my team didn’t have a clue’
