ASEAN Founders Ground Sub-Tree

That 76mm gun on the Dodge M37 looks like a Yugoslav 76mm M48 mountain gun

I’ve been looking at a whole heap of old Indonesian Archive images from this Facebook Page: Priyono Bitles Combat | Facebook. There are some interesting images of Indonesian vehicles (some I didn’t even know we used) as well as other interesting & rare images of historical events and the like (ships, aircrafts, infantry, etc.). I’d suggest taking a look if you’re interested in that sort of stuff

What i found from there was that for the new light tank procurement program in around 1983, two wildly different designs was tested, but ultimately went with the marked-up Alvis Scorpions due to “reasons”.

Vehicles Tested

The first is the Wiesel which we already know was tested with the .50 cal turret, but apparently it was also tested the 20mm variant as well

Wiesel

The second design we tested was the Austrian SK-105 Kürassier, honestly I have no clue about the variant differences, but since they’re firing at night I would assume it has thermals or NVD

SK 105

Although we didnt buy either of them, the SK105 turret was eventually used in the amx 13 retrofit (yonkav 2)

with that out of the way here are some additional rare images of tanks/vehicles we used

ERC 90 F1 LYNX (shocking i know, no mention anywhere else but there's an image)

With the appearance of multi vehicle SPAA, we could expand the tree to include the SPYDER MR from the Philippines and/or the MBDA SAMP/T from Singapore. Although I wonder, does anyone know any updates on Indonesia acquiring their own version of the HISAR-O?

Edit:
Missed another part of the update that adds the SPYDER AIO, now it would be even more easier for Gaijin to add the SR and MR versions!

They were ordered on 2022 but no recent news, supposed to be the Trisula-O (Medium-Range) & Trisula-U (Long-Range) as well as the SİPER

it would be similar to this

but with the Czech Tatra truck (currently unknown which version, could be this)

plus technically it wont be the multivehicle system we can add since we have NASAMS, Rapier, Skyshield,
GROM Poprad w/ Cobra ADS, etc

NASAMS, Skyshield, and Rapier (I suppose Rapier could be considered but wouldnt really be a match for the SPYDER systems) technically arent vehicle mounted and would be stretching the definition of vehicle based combat of WT. Also dunno how would the entire Grom Poprad Aster system would be employed, like there would be technically 2 different weapons configured to a search radar. Now if only the Badak Skyshield was real tho

its how its currently implemented though, with one radar-less vehicle as the weapon system and another as the radar (except at a lower BR obviously)

Thai ground subtree is coming (and no further info for other ASEAN nations)

Personally, I believe other ASEAN countries may have to wait until all minor tech trees get their subtree.

I feel like we have a strong precedent for two subtree nations (South Africa and India, Hungary and Romania, Belgium and the Netherlands), so I think Thailand and Indonesia could do that here.

Indonesia really do make the backbone of any ASEAN tree in general. Theyll be perfect to address the gaps left behind even with an expanded Thai subtree. I also feel like even if we all want the Thai VT-4, it simply wouldnt be added due to its sheer controversial nature so Gaijin could play safe with the addition of a Leopard 2RI.

It will also fill it with distinctly unique vehicles thats for sure.

Yeah, Indonesia would solve a lot of problems for everyone here.

incase people havent seen it here yet, this is a compilation of indonesian vehicles

as of now 62 possible vehicles.

  • Red = c&p
  • white = for vehicles that weren’t operated by many countries
  • yellow = for domestic modifications or variants of standard designs
  • green = for unique vehicles

Really hoping gaijin doesn’t screw up on ASEAN’s implementation, like splitting them up by giving Singapore to China and leaving the rest to Japan. It better be the whole package.

Lets hope we don’t have to rely on just a few vehicles from Thailand but also Indonesia’s great additions at least.
