ASEAN Founders Aviation Sub-Tree

Lims mentioned 💪💪💪

Looks amazing, great changes all around!

Especially the XF-2B, I need my 004

XF-2B 63-0004, the first F-2 to be properly armed, making it the definitive first AESA fighter to exist

Technically still a single seater, because the second seat isn’t used, but this was solved later with astromech droid integration (after refit to F-2B ADTW 102). This can help with piloting, simple in-flight repairs and hyperspace calculations. This would make for a great event vehicle if Gaijin can get the license.

Also clearing up the F-5/F-16 folder in favor of the Thai eMLU is nice, especially when it gives both Thailand and Indonesia their own versions of F-16 modernizations in the tree.

If you plan to go down a rank there’s some great options there.

  • For Japan I think it’d be great to see a Fuji T-1 folder and Kawasaki XT-4 in the Ki-200 line, leading up to the T-2 and other post-war domestic developments. The Malaysian line also does leave space in rank V/VI that can be used for Maritime patrol aircraft like the P2V-7/P-2J, P-3C and P-1. There might need to be a somewhat scuffed P-3/P-1 folder, but that’s techtree space in this game…
  • Thailand could get their A-37B (or OA-37B).
  • Indonesia could get their modified T-33A, Vampire T.55 and CS-102 (twin seat MiG-15 with lower armament). Then there’s the Hawk 53 which would be similar to the Hawk T Mk.1 in the UK tree but with two extra hardpoints, and their TA-4H/J Skyhawk that would be similar to the A-4H in the Israeli tree, but with two seats and no internal cannons (so they’d rely on gunpods) which would also be great candidates, but to save space might be better foldered with their rank VI counterparts. There’s also the Il-28T that could be added here, which would be somewhat unique since we don’t have this variant in game, if we can allow bombers here. Personally I’d say it should be fine considering this is initially a dive bomber line and the USSR tree places the Il-28 outside of the bomber line too.
  • And Malaysia could get their CL-41G and MB-339AM

The Indonesian line here is really tight on space, especially when considering aircraft like the Tu-16, Lim-5/6 or MiG-19/21. Indonesia really isn’t a single-line nation.

I think unless we get more space somehow, there is really only two solutions here. One is to try and compress the Indonesian line as much as possible.

Example

image

The “compressed” Indonesian line, including some very questionable folders such as having the attackers (T-33A, Hawk 53) and Fighters (CS-102, Vampire T.55) arbitrarily foldered in rank V, the Hawk 109 foldered behind the A-4s and still lacking the space for Indonesian Mig-19/21

The other option is to do what Gaijin did for the Thai navy jets and partly flare out into other lines. Since I think the Malaysian line should preferably already hold maritime patrol aircraft and with that would already be filled, the best bet here is the Thai line.

Example

image

The expanded Indonesian line. Here I tried to make the split for rank V/VI where the western imports (Hawks, A-4s) are moved over to share the Thai line, while the Indonesian line is mainly the eastern aircraft used by Indonesia like the Lims, MiGs and their bombers. This does force the Thai line to have a slightly awkward folder for the L-39 and A-37, but aside from that it’s a surprisingly clean solution.

Edit: The Vampire T.55 isn’t gone, it’s in the leftmost line from Japan, between Kikka and the F-86 folder. Japan also bought one, so this is a good way to lighten the Indonesian line while it can still have both nations camo options.

For future Thai aircraft, if the Thai AT-33 should be added, I’d say it’s fair in a folder behind the Indonesian T-33A. Again not ideal, but this means that every Thai rank V option is accounted for aside from the F-86F-30 that’s already in the tree and just needs the camo. For rank VI it’s similar, where only the F-86L is left. This I think can be done either by reintroducing the A-4/Hawk folder for Indonesia in this rank, or simply by making the F-86L a squadron vehicle which is my personal favorite option.

Of course neither of these approaches is ideal, but I can’t just magically make more lines (unless Gaijin let me) so this is as good as it gets for now. Maybe you can find a better solution though, would be exciting to see!

There’s a suggestion on it already too!

I think this would be an amazing event vehicle personally since it doesn’t take away anything from the tree, but does have something that I think people would really want to get.

It’s beautiful 🥲
Now we wait for the Indonesian SU-35 and J-10 to update that top rank again lol
