ok so ive been killed by these before but, its actually possible to destroy the smoke round before it reaches the ground? never seen it, i wonder what happens…
would this open a portal into another dimension or cause a black hole in our planet?
would artillery still fall into that spot?
is this thing intercepted by APS systems?
so many questions
also it would be amazing if we could choose between different types of round for artillery
it would be a awesome if it worked like that here, just imagine if you could choose Karl Gerat 800mm / V2 / Yamato gun barrage instead of a nuke or maybe a cruise missile, MOAB, FOAB, big thermobaric or even space tungsten rods like that of Oreshnik instead in higher tiers! so that match still goes on without losing the big boom reward for high kill count
would be intresting if lights, mediums and heavy tanks had different artillery call in types.
lights got a smaller artillery shell type dropping, mediums keep current and heavies get either a larger shell dropping (M55 shells) or smoke shells to blind an area
It could actually be interesting to have higher tier IFVs without atgms (Badger, ICV, M1296, etc) to have a stronger form of artillery to help them compete against much more meta mbts
a lot of those need the tanks to overall move up in decompression. Dont think light tanks should have the heaviest artillery either tbh, most of them when used right already turn the tides of battles nearly singlehanded so a XXL artillery strike would make them even more unbalanced.
they rely on scouting and mobility rather than raw firepower to giving them more dakka is a bit of a conflict of interest
Actually, a projectile hitting a smoke round would induce quantum tunneling due to the fact that the Universe Devs haven’t patched unlikely collisions yet (Earth Update V.1.79.3.8 should fix this), and as such, the round would likely hit the debug switch located in Southern Agartha, and would being the world back to the last major update (Earth V.175.0), the Second Battle Royale Event would come back.
just imagine if observer drone extended even further the range of artillery and allowed to do the most annoying modern warfare tactic, it would be hella OP (spawn campers love this trick, spawn camped team hates it)
in fact im trying to time travel by doing this but have not been successful at it, its extremely complicated maybe HE-VT can do it if you manage to see the first smoke then spray and pray around it
i’ve seen smoke mortar rounds getting destroyed with bomb if not mistaken but that apparently wasnt enough to tear the very fabric of reality in order for time travel to take place
Or give some different ability/arty choices depending on the tank class.
At least that would be mildly more interesting than same exact thing through every rank and BR.
Also, I forget the name if the tank mmo but they gave IFVs (without atgms) a squad that would deploy and fire anti tank missiles/rockets.
There’s a lot Gaijin could do to make the gameplay more interesting, support different roles (support, like lasing targets in the Kiowa or the forward observer nradley)… etc.
But you know, folks on the forum will lose their mind and that’ll be the feed back thye actually listen to
Artillery is like the #1 way to get rid of a Black Night that is being irritating and intercepting everything. I have to vehemently avoid artillery every single time I play that tank lmao
Heavy artillery would be cool.
Maybe 20-30% longer reload , and raise it to a 203mm. So it would actually be effective and make people move.
And nope, I think it should be unlockable option, so people can use on their preference, not lock it by tank type.
Smoke artillery, Cool but i dont want to see how many players are choking when 10+ players decides to smack simultaneous smoke artillery across map. I can imagine fps drops
I also beloeve there should be some prerequisite to using artillery. At least a small score requirement to use the first one. I am tired of having 5 artillery strikes on me the second I get a good early game spot.
warthunder uses a 2d sprite for smoke and fire if not mistaken (fog was perfected some time ago i think bcoz entering into smoke now feels like wandering silent h.) so its not as laggy but yea i can see spam doing something like that, maybe locking the prefered artillery at the beginning of the game could help with this so the player had to make a choice between concealment or the possibility of getting kills in which case most people would go for the latter for it has greater individual benefit
yea every tank having the ability to call for artillery is quite problematic in the sense that, if you are inside a capture point chances are you gonna get randomly 4 or even 5 artillery calls between ally and enemy sometimes more in contested areas and that is around 16/20 rounds at once, i think only scout type vehicles should have access to this since they used to work as forward observers too, if there was infantry it would be even better if only a radio operator or sniper had access to a more specialized form of artillery bombardment however theres currently no infantry in regular mode hehe
