Arrestor cables - could it really be true?

Hi folks!

Just flew my first match post-patch in Vietnam, and was surprised that my Tornado was not trapped by cables on the runway, and I also didn’t see any cable installations.

Now, was that a fluke and somehow Vietnam was not included in the change, or were my silent (and not-so-silent) prayers heard and they decided to not force this change on Sim EC?

What are your observations on other maps?

Aaaaah they forgot Sim again

I would give it a good probability that whatever dev is supposed to update the Air Sim ECs forgot to check the arrestor cable option for all the airfield triggers, if they even went into the mission.

I saw them properly installed in Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, though (lol).

Maybe you overshot the cables?
Btw, cables are also set wrong. On runways, they’re more down the runway that they’re in game.

No, the cables were not visible in the runway model, and I took special care to carefully land in the correct zone, exactly to test if/how it is implemented.

Note: In test flight it works as advertised, just in Vietnam (so far…) and in an actual Sim EC match it seems to not have been implemented.

So that’s why I’d be interested to hear form you guys:

  • What did other players see/experience in Sim EC?

  • On what maps?

Yes, they’re positioned much to close to the threshold, and also I myself never have seen an installation with three cables on land!

Here btw how this is marked on an airport chart (here LSMP Payerne AFB in Switzerland), note the yellow marked symbols showing the position of the arrector cables.

Cable broke my port MLG on Eurofighter, in Afghanistan. :(

I suspect they just copied carrier setup on the runway.
There should be one cable outside the touchdown zone and the second one 1/4 mile down the road.
