Arming Distance 50 meters... Oh is that so?

I was just in a match where a French VLT-2 torp’d me at point blank. I visually saw his torp leave the rail less than a couple meters from me, 0 time to react.

I went to look to see if this boat carries a special kind of torpedo that goes hot the instant it’s released. No it still says 50m arming distance.

So why did it fuze on me?

EDIT: There aint gonna be no replay, sorry. I’m spamming naval like crazy right now to get the coupon to make the Japanese DD tradeable.

I haven’t been playing like crazy. But I’ve got 388k so far out of the 600k needed. How far along are you? And best of luck to you!

Could be that “point blank” was more than just 50 meters.
Bit hard to estimate range like that in ships since they’re just big.
Dunno about torp fuzes, but it may as well have activated.

can torpedoes inflict kinetic damage?
warhead might not have detonated but im sure a lot of vessels dont deal well with 1500kg or whatever slamming into the hull

I believe torpedoes have a kinetic shock impact now

which vessel did you use?

It should read 5mm.

Ok this must be it.

This was absolutely less than 50m, I am 100% positive. But if torps have raw kinetic energy modeled then it makes sense, as I was in a PT-59.

I’m at 455950.

This was Under 4.0 Boats on Boat maps, and I know what less than 50m looks like by this point. It was absolutely less than 50m.

Grantaire put that bottle down! Have you seen Marius?

joke’s on you, i already poured it into a glass

Ah that explains it pt-59 is just wood, any torpedo is gonna remove it from this existence

Last time I played Naval, torps didn’t have a kinetic energy model. If they didn’t have time to arm, they did absolutely nothing so I was a bit surprised.
