Ariete in the game is basically just a worse Abrams, having the same reload, turret traverse speed and similar mobility, while having no armour in comparison and shells placed by the loader’s feet. No strengths or gimmick to compensate for the downsides.
Yet it occupies the very same BR. 11.7 for the PSO and WAR variants and 12.0 for the AMV one.
If Gaijin refuses to address the armour, so be it. I don’t understand how a 54-ton tank can have so little armour, but fine. But then at least lower the BR to 11.3. It would then have a gimmick of being a glass cannon that can still be penned anywhere by every MBT it faces while being able to pen them anywhere in return… minus Abrams cheeks and soviet ERA.
To be clear, I really don’t like this solution, but since Gaijin refuses to change the armour to what it should be (composite and ceramics on the hull and sides of the turret), I don’t really see another way to make it enjoyable.
For the sake of simplicity, I am not even going to start about how the AMV in the game is some fairy tale made up by Gaijin, much like F-16AJ.
PS: remember that Ariete doesn’t even get a .50 cal.
Explain this to Gaijin. Any sane person can see how the tank’s armour and weight just don’t make sense. I only made this post because people have been telling Gaijin the armour is wrong for years, so we most likely will never see it changed, either Gaijin is too lazy or just won’t accept that they are wrong. Lowering the BR, on the other hand, is something even the laziest of devs can do in minutes, I imagine.
We can hope for this bug report.
Unfortunately so far Gaijin is trying to keep it at higher br by giving it DM53 and increasing its RoF, they’ve fixed weights according to this report, but never cared about the protection revision.
They’ve modelled the tank in the game with pure assumption, but now asking for detailed sources to fix it.
So are some vehicle suggestions, some are way older too. Forwarded to devs seems to mean nothing these days. If they cared, they’d have changed it to something that makes more sense until they get more reliable sources to fine tune the numbers.
My take on this, is that the AMV besides engine upgrade, isn’t really worth it, so why not do the same as the U.S and instead of adding the other AMV variants separately, we give the AMV the PT2 and PT3 armor kits as modifications, like the WAR on the base Ariete.
Because honestly, the PSO and WAR offer better protection, and the AMV only offers mobility, so why not add those 2 factors into one? Heck, maybe even give it the Scudo Active Protection System!
What “PT2 and PT3 armor kits”? Afaik there are no changes in armor so far and PT1 can already install all add-on kits, including WAR+PSO.
Although AMV PT2 or I think you can call it C2 already, has some useful things over PT1, they don’t need to be artificially distinguished by add-on kits.
It should get 0.5 cal mg + it will have different turret drives, as when Ariete will get its turn for more detailed interior, its another drawback will be its hydraulic turret drives.
Yeah the base ariete should have at least leopard 2a4 armor. Shame…it’s a cool looking tank, and btw doesn’t gayjin understand that making a top tier nation so shitty will make it difficult to sell the premiums of said nation? It’s less money for them I guess
