The tldr is many NATO Vehicles are improperly modeled in Warthunder, not to mention the algorithm used for penetration is pretty ass.

This is not meant to provoke any conflict—I spent 2,000 hours completing the U.S. ground and air tech trees, but I feel completely helpless when playing the M1 (I only play arcade mode for ground battles, which emphasizes direct firing duels over finding enemy positions, and the M1’s armor is far too weak…).
I would recommend not believing stuff in a video game translates to irl.

Maybe… Chinese players once provided an authoritative report on Chinese tank equipment data, but gaijin thought the source was not authoritative enough, so they didn’t adopt it 😂.
That’s because in-game we have gun sights being at the barrel tip which creates scenarios that never existed in real life, in-game you can even pixel hunt for the commander’s mole if your gunner sight has enough zoom.

The turret ring is probably supposed to be ~200mm thick, which would save it from 2S38s and Strf 9040Cs more often.
But proving that has been difficult, and there are no bug reports with that concrete evidence since the last time I checked.
