Are gun barrels so easily damaged in real combat?

Is the damage rate of tank gun barrels really that high in actual combat? I often find myself unable to fire due to damaged barrels after a single engagement

Barrels are fragile as well in real life, the difference is real life isn’t mouse-aim

The main difference is that most tankers IRL don’t aim for barrels but for 1 shot kill.

Ya no, tankers aim for center mass, because trying to line up a tiny box like shape while using a twin joystick setup in a tank moving and rocking, isn’t an easy task.

It’s just that for most tanks, getting shot once is generally enough to force them to disengage and pull back, if you didn’t mobility kill them to begin with, at which point the crew will bail out and either scuttle the tank to prevent capture, or hope the lines stay intact enough where engineers can come and pull the tank to safety.

Yeah, that’s probably how it works but I’m not a tanker so idk.

You can ask any ai tool of your choice: Barrel damage irl happened just occasionally as enemy tanks or AT-guns were trained to hit actual weak spots. The pure statistical chances of scoring a perfect perpendicular hit on a round target are (ofc) extremely low.

Just one of the most obvious sign that you play an arcade shooter…
