so… APHE isnt supposed to go in a ball after penetrating, its newtons 1st law: An object at rest remains at rest, or if in motion, remains in motion at a constant velocity unless acted on by a net external force . the explosive filleér being part of the shell in movement, the explosion should go in a cone, bigger or smaller depending on shell velocity. The current APHE is too OP, sooo gaijin FIX THIS NOW
It was put up to a vote to test more realistic APHE damage.
Community voted no…
Wait really? I dont think anyone in the entire history of warthunder ground forces noticed that.
What we would do without you.
Community wanted this.
They apparently like getting their entire turret crew deleted from enemy APHE simply grazing the cupola.
The daily APHE topic.
The community was split on that.
You could repeat the vote every month and it would probably still get 50% No and Yes, with always a tiny fraction changing the vote to one side or the other.
Not making APHE realistic because 2% voted against it is honestly a joke.
Gaijin made HESH realistic and implemented tungsten carbide shattering, without asking whether players wanted that, nerfing the ammunition in the process.
They just didn’t want to lose a large portion of their playerbase who would be salty after their APHE round didn’t nuke any vehicle in one shot anymore.
It’s the same with how effective explosive shells are nowadays in destroying aircraft, regardless of explosive content.
I think it was more because they didnt want to deal with the br overhauled that would come with it.
I wanted more realistic APHE in-game to fix some absurd death scenarios, but the community didn’t want to learn a non-handheld mechanic.
As a result, you can still vaporize entire crews with Cupola shots even with a small autocannon’s APHE. Just the other night, I had a Tiger E hit my Jumbo 76 cupola, and his APHE went deep enough to kill my driver and bow gunner. Even worse, I nonpenetrated his cupola twice despite them being proper shots. The Tiger E’s cupola is strangely immortal.
