Any tip for use Spike?

How can an infrared guided anti-tank missile not hit the tank’s hot spots? How can a tank withstand a direct hit from a spike??? How can a helicopter withstand a spike???

Gaijin is stupid sometimes. They don’t think the spike should be useful, so they’re turned it into a gimmick. Its pathetic in its current state…

even worse. A gimmick that moves your vehicle up 0.7 BR at a minimum

In game, all fnf missiles aim for center mass.

Because heli damages models suck.

dont shoot them from range at an enemy that is looking at you, itll probably hit the tip of their barrel

how to Spike:

Step 1 target choice

  • Prefer Light targets like IFVs and SPAAs

  • Use 1 Spike for Light targets

  • If Heavy targets have to be engaged Shoot 2, just to be sure,

Step 2 ??? (this is where it goes wrong most of the time)

Step 3

  • Pray for the Holy snail that it hits

Step 4

  • now that you shot all your spikes into 2 T-64s Without damaging them go to a Cap to reload them

Repeat this as long as you can

Yeah, so I get this joke has been done to death, but it really does seem to be the best advice: Just don’t. It’s not worth it.

1st: not IR, it’s optical guided. So therefore it just goes center mass ( or at least it should, refer to point 2;)
2nd: FUNNNIIII ( that was semi sarcastic btw)

They aim for center of mass but have huge variability. The almost never hit center of mass in live games even on a stationary target with sufficient range for the missile to aim correctly

pray.

probably the best ATGM made on the planet, reduced to a modern nerf dart in warthunder

i am not shitting you sometimes i 1 tap 4 t80 in row with the spike sometimes the enemy tank can just take 4 of them.
The issue is that the atgm has a target randomiser so it doesnt always hit Ceneor of Mass to try and not hit the same spot over and over, it targets certain tank parts, issue is sometimes it targets stupid stuff like tracks and external hmgs like on most t-series, if they tweaked it a bit so it weighs center of mass or where your reticle locks it would be better.

Helicopters surviving spikes, in this game? That never happens? As for the tanks, it’s questionable, especially for most, but there are some that should blatantly tank them, like the Strv 122’s with their roof composites.

I don’t know if you’ve seen from the view of a SPIKES seeker, but it’s an IR optical system, it doesn’t lock onto the largest heat source, it uses the IR return of the whole tank, and targets it, similar to TV seekers.

I want you to tell me how an anti-tank missile hits a helicopter and doesn’t bring it down.
After that, I want you to tell me how a spike hits a Russian tank’s target and doesn’t destroy it.

Because this is how they have handled the flight model of the missile.
