The new anti radiation missiles suck. I’m using the su 30 mk2 with its kh 31p anti rad missiles. As I’m flying my RWR is being pinged by the irst, namsam, adats, and more meaning radiation is hitting my aircraft. (maybe a different band) But tell me why the only thing my missiles will pick up on are the BUK on my team. Same thing happened when i had an IRST on my team. The new missiles full bore towards friendlies and cant grab a lock on enemies that are slamming my aircraft with radiation. What’s the point in adding a the missile? I understand there may be a difference in the radar band used which is why i couldnt grab the lock but why could i lock an irst when he was on my team but not when he was on the enemy
Eh, I’ve had a pretty ok experience with the ALARM’s, just which ground RB maps were large enough to get a decent launch with them and that I could bring them into nuclear thunder.
Cause Ground Radar emits still your picking up and locking onto the source of any and all emits that those Harms can pick up. Unlike aircraft radar that can show iff of other aircraft , the anti-rad missiles do not have iff as wells as if I’m not mistaken ground aa sites do not have iff as well. So your anti-rad missile only sees the source and can lock onto it enemy or friendly. Also check which band you’ll mainly see in NT and take those anti-rads with you
you DO know you need to select the correct type of missile, depending on the AA’s band, right? L111 are for I band, L112 for D/E/F band and L113 for G/H band.
did you read the post?
They are effectively useless. We’re loosing them into an environment so cluttered with friendly emissions with none of the signature lists weapons are loaded with to avoid blue on blue. Coupled with the fact we cannot cycle the missile through emissions without restarting it, just a miserable weapon to use.
Frankly, it seems the missile prioritises friendly returns over foe. They could have fudged it with the same logic as aircraft IFF, but nope. They added an effectively useless armament for the scale ground battles are at, with no real targets in any other mode to justify them.
Those going against Russian AA cannot afford the unreliability of the weapons, and those flying Russia have more reliable options likewise.
From what I could’ve seen (in 4 games got TKed by “my” 30MKK, or smth, in IRIST twice) the missile, particularly 31PD picks up the strongest signal around. The problem is GRB/GSB are small maps and there’s a lot of emissions coming from a 2x2km area, so missiles get easily confused. If you’re launching at enemy Osa (small radar) eg. and there’s a friendly IRIST with its huge radar in between, missile will likely switch targets and you’re gonna TK your teammate.
had that happen once but also Gajin thinks player will fly off to the side to fire not from air spawn
Yeah.
That’s generally GJ’s problem.
They lump stuff into the game, with little if any consideration how will it influence the gameplay.
31PD is a strategic ARM and you’re forced to shoot it into a small tactical area…it is what it is, GJ. :D
I mean I hope this is a sign for bigger maps I feel as the higher in br you go ground and air at least the maps should get bigger
Definitely. I mean, the 31PD has a range of several hundreds kilometers and you’re shooting it now at 15km.
15km is just a warmup for such a missile. It’s used vs large surveillance radars in the enemy’s background.
well it’s a start add the weapons then add the maps as the weapons evolve
IMO, it should be the other way around, but GJ always has its ways. :D
I’m fine with it only reason it might help develop the long lost world war mode
