Anti-Radiation Missiles and Electronic Support Measures!

Yeah. there was a solution to this problem proposed and it was rejected

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/3NITcNuromh2

Though I do find it really funny that Gaijin keeps on mentioning TKs being a problem for Brimstones (even for mode 2) but then reject the solution to preventing TKs with ARM. The double standards are starting to get annoying.

Not really that surprised

At this point fix brimstone and let come what may.

Hello Stona,

I haven’t had the chance to test these missiles in RB yet, but based on my experience, CAS was already very strong even before this update. With this new anti-SPAA weapon, is there any chance that SPAA systems could receive performance parameters that are more faithful to their real-life counterparts?

For example, we all know that the IRIS-T SLM currently has its missile speed nerfed, and the same applies to the SPYDER system.

when did it come to the game? Ive joined earlier and i’ve saw it but it was exactly like this but very similar

Seems like last micropatch. I dont recall bands having pop up before it.

I’m not talking just about the marker, for which your comment of course is fully correct.

What I mean are examples like A-6 or F-111, which have a HUD with simplified artificial horizon - but only as long as you have bombs - once the bombs are dropped, the whole HUD disappears.

Oh, didn’t know about that. Don’t have neither of those.
The ESM case is pretty straightforward. ELS on Tornado SLE eg. is a hardware installation.
It’s used to slave missiles, not the other way around, so its display should be available even after missiles have been expended, for surveillance eg. You can still radio teammates what the enemy team spawned, even after you fired all your missiles, eg.

Is anyone able to switch between ESM targets with the manual cue? I can only do it if I switch back to target cyclic in settings.

Also, I can’t place aiming points on the map on Console? I can only move already placed ones through the TGP. Pretty annoying that both of these new features don’t work, I wanted to try them in Nuclear Escalation before it disappears again.

Well ARM were another unforced error by gaijin.

What a shit show, stellar job as always.

Can’t even try to defend against oppressive cas any more, Jesus Christ.

Ye, poor RU SAMs finally having to actually worry about something whuch can kill them

No, right you either left click on the target in the esm screen or use the keybind to switch radar targets. But you don’t need to switch to target cyclic in the settings, the switch radar target keybind still works in manual mode despite the annoying radar message stating otherwise.

RU SAMs aren’t the ones who have to worry, they have magical K band track radars and can move. It’s everyone else who gets the consequences.

You said it yourself, “Tracking” radar, but 1 Ping when the HARM in searching is allready enough ))

Which is also why I mentioned it can move. Any intelligent pantsir player will detect the ARM Launch, switch off their search radar, start rolling, and vaporise you with 95ya6m anyways.

Luckly they are very rare :3

ESM doesn’t work for me. Yes I have AGM-88C and HARM targeting pod equipped. I press the keybind to switch set of Radar/ESM but it does nothing, or turns my radar off if I have the radar on.

So…When will RWRs like AN/ALR-67(V)3, AN/ALR-69A, DASS and BOW-21 have ESM capability on their own?

Relying on HARM as sensor to do a wideband search provides no advantage, what’s worse, you get a super slow refresh rate.

Which plane did you have the Issue?

In WT it replaces the radar screen, so yes, it turns radar off. But you should see the ESM screen instead.

For me it makes no sense why radar and ESM are coupled, and I guess they just did that to save space. I would have understood it better if they used RWR display for ESM, and not radar.

Well, it’s one of those things where they “combine” different functionalities in WT which have in reality nothing to do with each other, like SAS overriding trim and Altitude Hold overriding SAS, or tank steering overriding MCLOS missile steering, things like that…

Is it possible to dodge ARMs when you switch off you radar and move abit?

What about some of the saclos systems like Pantris, Flarakrad etc? What will the incoming ARM do when you switch off the radar and just fire off the SAM with manual controll? Eyeballing it into the target jet?

Just want to know, since I have no motivation atm to play high tier.
