Suggestion: Rear-Positioned Long-Range Air Defense Spawns Near Helipads
Issue
Currently, long-range air defense systems (SAMs):
- Spawn too close to the frontline
- Do not perform their intended long-range, strategic role
- Often behave like short-range AA instead
This reduces realism and limits tactical depth in Realistic Battles (RB) and Simulation Battles (SB).
Proposed Solution
Add dedicated spawn zones for long-range SAM systems, positioned:
- Near helipads
- Further away from the main ground combat area
These spawns would represent rear-area air defense positions, protecting:
- Helipads
- Forward airfields
- Key team infrastructure
Intended Gameplay Role
Long-range SAM systems would:
- Engage aircraft before they reach the battlefield
- Create a realistic air denial zone
- Force enemy pilots to:
- Fly low
- Use terrain masking
- Plan ingress routes more carefully
This gives long-range air defenses a clear and realistic purpose.
New Air Objectives (RB & SB)
- Enable SEAD / DEAD-style objectives:
- Detect, suppress, and destroy enemy SAM sites
- Creates meaningful tasks for:
- Strike aircraft
- Fighter-bombers
- Attack and recon helicopters
Helicopters gain a defined role in reconnaissance and precision attacks against air defenses.
Balance & Benefits
- Reduced spawn-killing due to rear positioning
- SAMs remain counterable through coordinated air attacks
- More strategic gameplay and team coordination
- Increased realism without added complexity
Summary
Rear-positioned long-range air defense spawns near helipads would:
- Improve realism
- Expand air and helicopter gameplay
- Add meaningful air objectives to RB and SB
- Better reflect modern combined-arms warfare
