Antelope spaa being useless

I want to share my experience with the Antelope, because at its current BR it feels weak and unreliable as an air defense vehicle.

Main issues

  1. Target acquisition problems
    The IR seeker often struggles to lock helicopters, UAVs and low-flying aircraft. In many cases the lock is unstable or fails completely, even when the target is clearly visible.

  2. Aircraft with DIRCM, such as the Su-25T, are especially problematic.
    In these cases, missiles usually fail to track at all, even with a clean launch.

  3. Low effectiveness in real battles
    Because of the issues above, Antelope has a hard time dealing with common air threats at this BR. Drones and helicopters are often able to operate with little risk, which makes Antelope feel ineffective compared to other SPAAs at similar BRs.

You mean there is something not russian that is actually useful in the game ?

I have the same issue with Stormer AD, must be a universal problem, however, I have a gun as a very useful backup

IRCCM doesnt seem to play ball at all on SAMs from my own experience, stingers on the Stormer AD claim to be IRCCM but are easily flared and dealt with quite well by the IRCM on the back of frogfoots.

Missile drones are flat out impossible to lock until they have been J’d out of or shot by someone else and recce drones are only lockable from less than a kilometre away (and usually are missed by the missile)

Helis used to be real bad but its much better nowadays.

I think Gaijin just needs to retune IR sams that arent the strela again

Issue not unique to Antelope, sadly. All non-DL IRs sucks in this regard.

AFAIK Su-25T/Su-39 is the only aircraft with this system, and it sits at 11.3, thus Antelope can see it in full uptier. Since it has stand-off weapons, it wont likely even come within Antelopes range, and China itself has the Tor sitting at that BR.

That being said, Antelope (or any non-DL IR only system, really) being able to meet planes with standoff weapons such as Su-25T/Su-39, is mad “funny”.

china has not that much vehicles on 10.3, so you have to make your setup higher than 10.3, mine is on 11.0 because i dont want to play with 2 vehicles in my setup. Now about the thing with helicopter and drones, if it sucks at locking these than why is it at such a high br? like if u meet a strike drone you are dead because you cant lock it. there is no excuse for it being bad and at such a high br
