you got anti tanks to take out tanks, your job is to take out planes/helis, or light tanks and enemy SPAAs, it’s SPAA for a reason not SPG-SPAA
spaa has been retrofitted for multiple uses alot of times. when something fires alot of bullets in a short amount of time, it can be repurposed as anti infantry. german fierlings were often turned against infantry when under threat. we shouldnt forget that historically, most of the fighting force consists of infantry. infantry often move around in unarmored or armored trucks. these also need to be countered.
if a shell has penetration, it can pen something. even the m247 with only 36mm pen aphe shell, is a threat to stuff. i mean, i penetrated the rears of mbt-70’s with those things. doesnt mean i wanna engage tanks with it, cause it sucks in 90% of the use cases.
can infantry take out a tank with small arms? no. but they can shoot at the optics and make a tank effectively blind. still hinder it. in war thunder, its purely tank vs tank combat. optics dont break. so you need to have anti tank capability to properly engage the enemy team. thats the entire goal of the game. you dont want to run around in vehicles that literally cant destroy the enemy. can the zsu-57-2 penetrate a maus? no. but ive had it happen multiple times where i shoot the lower part of the turret, and the shell richochets through the hull roof, exploding into the ammorack. its still viable.
if you think that the one apds round in a belt of 4 is such a huge issue for you because you dont know how to play the game, check your corners, listen to enemies, then you should also opt to remove the ap/aphe shell for vehicles like the zsu-57-2. which will just, predictably, make them unwanted and not fun to play with. you will just end up with alot of spaa’s that might be good at being an spaa, but are simply not in anyone’s line up, because they arnt fun to sit around with doing nothing.
so sure. remove all AP capabilities of spaa’s. make them unwanted. gaijin could compensate this by lowering the br’s of these vehicles. lets turn the falcon into a 7.3 vehicle. same as the m163. except the falcon has no armor, mediocre speed, no radar. it only has stabilization and 53mm of penetration. let it fight lower tiers. it cant deal with a tiger any more, but all those t-34’s, panthers, shermans, they will surely welcome an autocannon spaa with just enough pen to turn their sides into swiss cheese.
the wz305 without AP capabilities would do well at 5.7 cause its HE shells only have 11 penetration. cant do anything with it. but the proxy HE will make anything that flies think twice.

AMX30 DCA IS nearly non-functional as an AA. its radar is so bad that you can visibly see the targeting box wobble completely off the target its tracking at 1.5km. Its easily the worst radar i’ve ever seen in this game. its better to just manually aim.
The falcon isn’t functional as an AT platform without apds. No one has used it for a dedicated AA in a long, long time. It used to be 7.3 a long time ago and has been upteired and nerfed to its current position.
If they were removing the apds rounds, both should have dropped to 7.3 instantly and rebalance from there. Keeping them at 8.x is a joke.

You don’t have to perform a flanking maneuver to get a flank shot.
Enemy MBT comes over a hill and gets tracked, and momentum turns it. Before MBT can recover, follow-up shots hit the flank.

another NERF that gaijin introduced about 2-3 years ago. the radar wobble. because CAS was complaining they were hit too often! i remember when i just unlocked the zsu 23-4, that it aimed quite well. then one day, i noticed the radar wobbling. it was disgusting! its effectiveness literally halfed, to my idea. i really couldnt hit stuff as easily anymore.

If you have to set up an extreme case scenario for how an spaa can fight a tank, you are missing the point. Just as likely that tank isn’t moving fast enough to turn it and the AA can’t pen. Or the tank crests the hill and shoots the AA from hull down. There are almost no AA in the game with 1+kdrs vs tanks. No matter how much you complain, they aren’t effective. Making them even worse isn’t productive.
