Announcing the Removal of the R2Y2 from Research

i need my Seiran that you consider as fake even though quite a few were made

Paper vehicles cannot be suggested to begin with, the bare minimum would be unfinished prototypes with unique parts built, and even then it’s not like 5% of the suggestions.

Not even close. Of the F-2 alone we can have 3 variants (XF-2A, F-2A early life production, F-2A mid life upgrade) without going into future weapons or the twin seat models. FS-X had several parts built specifically for it and counts as an unfinished prototype. And if gaijin is willing, the X-2 is similar to the Yak-141 in completeness.

Also as evidenced by the Strikemaster, underarmed trainers are clearly not useless.

That’s exactly what prototypes are, though.

Ki-44-III, A6M8, A6M4, A6M3 w/ 30mm, up-armed J2Ms, even the bubbletop variants of Ki-61-II and Ki-100…

edit: even mentioning just “Ki-44-III” is kinda wrong since there were 3 with very quantifiable differences between them, so there’s 2 more.

You can mention a lot of production and prototype aircraft for Japan. From giant planes such as Ki-91 and Ki-20, to support planes such as Ki-3, Ki-30, Ki-36, Ki-51, Ki-71, Ki-94, A6M7, Kikka, then a mass of fighter Ki-27 Ko, Ki-43-III Ko, Ki-44-III Ko and Otsu, A6M8, Ki-60, Ki-64, Ki-100 Otsu, Ki-106, there are also bombers such as G3M, Ki-48, LB-2, G4M2, G4M3, G5N2, P1Y2, to night fighters J1N1-S, A6M5-S, D4Y2-S, C6N1-S, Ki-84 Tei, to many aircraft of the Japanese self-defense forces: PV-2, PS-1, P-1, P-2, P-2J, P-3, T-33A, T-1, S2F-1, XT-4, F-2. There are tons of options for almost every Br from 1.0 to 14.0

Besides what others have already said, there is the Me-262, which is just as ”real" as the Japanese Tiger, and the Ki-201, which may or may not have been a straight copy of the abovementioned Me-262, but at least they did start to build it, so it could still be at the edge of what is acceptable in game, even under the current standards. Both of these planes are direct alternatives to the R2Y2 that are not pure paper projects and can fly under the Japanese flag.

How about we don’t introduce anymore useless copypaste slop and take a look at players’ suggestions?

there is at least few hundred of them for Japanese air tree, all real projects without any paper vehicles

The hood lost a real one, RIP.

I was talking specifically about jet fighters at the same battle rating as the R2Y2. There’s not a lot of viable suggestions here and everyone of them is worse (including the current “solution” of introducing useless copypaste slop in a subtree)

You know, there doesn’t have to be a vehicle of every “class” at every battle rating. There is nothing wrong with a nation lacking a fighter at a specific BR.

Yeah, Japan at 8.0 won’t really have anything. Only thing I could really think of for that would be an Indonesian Hawk 53.

But I think that’d be a good replacement either way, offering something at 8.0 air so you’re not forced to uptier anything when playing with others at 8.0 and probably being better than the R2Y2s for GRB lineups.

Did they say anything about removing the Ho-Ri Production? That’s as fake as you get.

They said they’d be removed someday, I’m assuming it will be the shortly after thai subtree like the R2Y2s.

I truly wish you were right because this would greatly simplify the debate about which nations have viable tech trees and wether they need to be padded with foreign vehicles or not.

Honestly would be better if Gaijin just replaced the current Ho-Ri Production with the design that actually existed. The Ho-Ri irl had 2 designs, the Ho-Ri I that resembled a Ferdinand and the Ho-Ri II that resembled a Jagdtiger. There is some small evidence to suggest the Ho-Ri I was possibly made at the very end of the war, but nothing concrete.

The current design we have is supposed to resemble like a “Ho-Ri III”, but that design was completely made up. Made no sense for Gaijin to choose that made up design when 2 others were known to have existed at that point.

You know what else should be removed?

fellas I grinded for 3-4 days with the J6K1 and now i have V1 and V2 and put research points into V3 so this entire conversation is abundant for me. I would suggest for you all who want it to do the same as long as it is still there

It is not. From document we know that 5 non-completed hulls got 50% of ready. No concrete what variant of Ho-Ri it was but because of existing the Ho-Ri II blueprints and easier design similar to Chi-Ri, mostly that hulls were Ho-Ri II

Honestly I’m interested in the Ho-Ri II being added to the game.

Hm… they want to remove one type of aircraft and what a fuss there is about it… well, I’m also playing Japanese machines now, so I can at least have a V1 in my collection… :-)))
