Announcing the Removal of the R2Y2 from Research

Ostwind II and Ostwind II Ost joined the conversation… Object tanks from mid USSR Tree also joined the conversation…,

What a bad idea to remove that unique planes… and that idea… if you researched you able to own it… what about the new commers they have no chance to get it…

If i where you i will make the following update: Instead of removing why not make it as a hidden vehicle.

  • If you own you keep it
  • If you started research you able to finish it
  • If you not owned and not started the research you have an opportunity to get it.
  • Add it the specific research criteria like if you own atleast 5 BR 10.0 aircraft you able to research the mentioned planes…

Although this is the decision, from my side i appreciate the timely notification to the community.

Panther F was put into production. Both the turret and hulls were supposed to replace the existing Panther models simply because they were 1. cheaper and easier to make; 2. better armored for the same weight. The fact that they were never mated together has more to do with the, you know, Germany being on her last legs with a transportation system in ruins?

Panther 2 was a prototype that was cancelled in 1943. The comparison between the two is like heaven to earth. Even then, if the chassis existed or was extremely similar to a different one, what does it matter if the turret was used or existed? All the necessary information for their implementation in the game is enough with just the chassis as the differences between the projected specs and real specs of a turret are barely noticeable for the ‘perfect conditions’ that WT uses for their implementation.

The R2Y2 V1 is just a R2Y1 with jet engines under the wings and the piston engines replaced by equivalent weights (fuel tanks/guns) Flight performance would be almost identical to the R2Y1.

If you were to actually search about the Panther F, the first link from Tanks Encyclopedia would be enough to show you the evidence of turrets and hulls being in production and of hybrids being fully built. (Panther G with Panther F turret and Panther F hull with Panther G turret etc) WT follows, even if not consistently, a policy of implementing prototypes/vehicles as a perfect, factory condition of what could have been.

If I had to guess, then maybe some Thai aircraft might fill it

Only the F-84G is not of the same Br. it’s not an exchange if you put him in another squad. Following the same logic, the B5N2 is a replacement for the Mitsubishi F-2A, because I can also take it to the highest level

Prototypes and testbed vehicles are NOT production models

Actually it shows that what was made was completely unfinished and there was a single hybrid made out of panic because the Germans had lost by then

First of all, there was no Panther F hull with a Panther G turret. It isn’t even known if a single Panther F hull was completely finished and the Panther G turret wouldn’t have fit on a Panther F hull.
There was at least one Panther G hull with a Versuchs-Schmalturm (Trial-Slimturret) and there most likely was a second one with a slightly different Versuchs-Schmalturm, neither of these were built to the same specs as the Panther F turrets would have been, if those turrets had ever been finished.
The Panther F we have in-game is a “what-if” configuration and is about as real as the Coelian and the Panther II.

woo american C&P instead of cool domestic prototypes how original

Indeed. Prototypes and testbed vehicles are not production models. It is good then that the Panther F was put into production then.

Production of the Pz.Kpfw. Panther Ausf.F was to start in early 1945 and done by Krupp-Gruson in April, M.A.N. in April, Daimler-Benz in March, M.N.H. in May, and Nibelungenwerk in April. To Krupp-Gruson and Nibelungenwerk, the Pz.Kpfw. Panther Ausf.F was to be their first Panthers produced while for M.A.N. production would have started with Panther number 2229, Daimler-Benz with Panther number 2621, and M.N.H. with Panther number 2303.

The prototype of the Panther F was the one built in late 1944 and the second built in early 1945, after it passed all tests, it got put into production. The fact that barely a few hulls and turrets were made does not make them prototypes.

There was no Panther F prototype…

You have an infants reading ability. the phrases “was to” and “would have” means it never actually happened

Well it did start. Given the 4 uncompleted Panther F hulls found at DB and the other at Ruhrstahl on their assembly lines.

Four hulls doesnt mean full production. There was just as many parts found for maus.

There was also 5 FV4005 tanks built, doesn’t mean it was a production vehicle.

The Panther F prototype was the Panther G chassis with the Schmalturm built in 1944. The focus of the Panther F variant was on the turret, as an opposite to the Panther A to Panther G (the Panther G’s focus was on the chassis as the early production units used the Panther A turret) and later they did some changes to the chassis, minor changes.

No. But the documentation proving that the Panther F was put into production and was abruptly stopped by the surrender of Germany doesn’t invalidate that the F variant, was in fact, not a prototype or test bed. And yes, the Maus was put into production and after the factory got bombed, said production order was cancelled.

Those hybrids were not Panther F prototypes. They put the turrets on the Panther G hull just to test the turret.
Hell, the Schmalturm wasn’t even fully compatible with the Panther G hull.

No it wasn’t, there was two made. It was so stupid even the germans cancelled it to work on a better alternative, E100.

This is just the plans. Not what actually happened. All “Panther F” tanks you speak of were Versuchs or final tests on older hulls, not a true panther F.

After checking, it seems in this case I was wrong. The production order for 120 Maus tanks was cancelled before it could begin and the 6 hulls and turrets were part of the Versuchs order.

No. I am talking about the pure Panther F hulls built on the assembly line at DB and Ruhrstahl, not Panther G hulls with Panther F turrets.

for the fist 2 points:
If you own the R2Y2 you will keep it.
If you at least put 1 rp in it you can finish the research anytime.
