Doubling down on removing vehicles that could’ve been is a terrible design decision. I know the audiant ones out there will blast me for saying it straight but there is no reason to do it if the game already has what mounts to hundreds of testbeds that were never meant to see combat. If you can susbend your disbelief in this game for this reason and plenty others like seeing nations during ww2 that weren’t there then what’s the issue with vehicles that existed in concept and were much more likely to see combat given they had time? The never existed policy is empty & terrible and it’s just there to bring down what could be very fun and unique vehicles so there’s no need to design anything new for the game.
Also what’s with the recent trend of adding vehicles that were only captured but never actually used? Kungstiger didn’t need to exist and it opens a door for a lot of mess and you can’t even make the argument that it’s there to fill in gaps for the nation when it’s a BP premium. Where’s the german and italian captured IS-2? How about you give me a russian abrams or a leopard? What’s the issue? These were all held by the forementioned nations.
I know Gaijin doesn’t care neither do they actually read all the way down here, but hey, at least you have your replacement 7.7 american copy paste jet :)
Mr. @Smin1080p_WT, will there be a real Japanese plane in place of R2Y2? But do I have to settle for copy-pasting planes from Thailand that aren’t even suitable replacements for R2Y2?
I wouldn’t say that. Thailand strengthens Japanese CAS, but not on Br 8.0. You could say by example that they are removing a heavy cruiser and offering a weaker light cruiser instead. this is a poor exchange. The F-84G is not a replacement for the R2Y2. It’s a different category of plane
And to be honest, a probably change on its BR may be needed, the F-86, if I’m not wrong, at 8.3 offer a best performance in any roles. About this subject, we may need to move a BR reduction on the R2Y2s’ series.
They have said the keel has to have been laid down. So far they’ve stuck to that.
La-174, you mean, which hasn’t been offered under any circumstances in over 7 years, so I’d say it’s pretty much gone for good, it’s not the Maus situation, which uniquely comes back every year, so it’s just in a class of its own for how you earn it not really “gone”. Add in the Chinese PT-76, and HMS Churchill to the tech tree “disappeared” list. Also a few Russian and Japanese CBT variants they decided they just had too many of at first and some Italian and French planes in the original CBT trees before they got their own.
The four reasons for tech tree removal have been:
beginner vehicle that sucks to play;
something that didn’t exist and now we have something better than the original gap-filler to offer;
something we just had too many of when we launched this; and
tree splitting.
In the first case they give you a chance to earn it later, for everything except the Churchill, which I thought was really disappointing at the time. In the latter cases they haven’t for the others in many years. And it’s hard to make a case for “bring back the R2Y2 sometimes” that wouldn’t equally apply to, say, the British Dewoitines (to pick one example).
Edit: I will say that giving everyone three months notice here was very fair, I thought. If you ARE determined you are going to remove a vehicle now, this was the right way to do it.
Additionally all the parts of the yak were made (radar, munitions etc). And would have been put on the airframe had a certain significant event not occurred.
Probably goes back to the production schedule that mentioned 5 incomplete hulls were supposed to be ready in August 1945. That said they should really replace the Ho-Ri in the TT with the actual finalized design. Also, no discussion on vehicles of dubious nature can be complete without mentioning the Ostwind II.
Especially considering the possibility that the Ostwind II that replaced it may also have been “paper”
I was looking for this response since everything pass this is just nonsense discussion, this is why I hate the new forums, we all knew in the old forums that the R2Y2 were gonna be removed one day, all the old suggestions and discussions were wiped out and now apparently nobody knew that this was coming when we have been saying to get those suggested airplanes so they can remove the paper R2Y2s, they are finally getting removed so let’s see what they add in their place
It would make sense to do it like that. Too much sense for gaijin to even consider. Most games these days bring back older cosmetics, weapons, ect… at some point and its always a huge hit in their respective communities. I just dont understand why gaijin doesnt do things like that.
There was no finalized design of the Ho-Ri though, they built a wooden mock-up and the gun.
It is unknown if the hulls that they ordered to be built actually did get built, but even if they did, there no prototype are known to exist.
So really, both the prototype and the production are fabrications, just the prototype is at least based on something that did exist (in form of a wooden mock-up, which looking at the Coelian isn’t enough to be in the game according to gaijin themselves)
The Ki-201 was a prototype design number assigned to the project that - originally was an attempt to modify the Me 262A design to Japanese production methods.
This ended up not happening, because the attempted delivery of Me 262 samples and airframes was sunk in February 1945. In the final days of the Third Reich, another submarine shipment was sent towards Japan carrying a lot of aircraft including Me 163 and Me 262, but as Germany surrendered, this submarine and its crew also promptly surrendered. Japan never got their hands on a Me 262 so I can’t quite understand why you’re claiming the Ki-201 was a “designation” for the Me 262, much less a specific variant like the A-2a Sturmvogel.
Because of the lack of a German Me 262 to study and adapt to Japanese manufacturing methods and standards, the Ki-201 team started designing the aircraft themselves. Basic drawings were completed and work was started on a wooden mock-up, but more detailed manufacturing plans were never started as the war ended.
Now, if we were to extend WW2 in the Pacific in an imaginary scenario long enough that the Japanese could finish the Ki 201, what do you think that plane would be more like?
Would it be an actual Me 262 designated as Ki-201 as you claim, or would it be more according to the Japanese plans for the aircraft, as influenced by the requirements the Japanese had for the aircraft?
To me, the answer is clear: The plane designated as Ki-201 would not be a license-produced Me 262, but rather it would be what the design team at Nakajima came up with it.
So my conclusion is that clearly, clearly the jet design programs of Japan were massively influenced by German jet designs and especially when it comes to the engines - but neither the Kikka nor the Ki-201 Karyu should be described as “Japanese Me 262”.
Well they added the Ho 229 because it looks awesome, so I don’t see any valid reason why the J7W2 Shinden-Kai shouldn’t be added. Because it, too, looks awesome.
