Recently, I have been grinding GRB Top Tier, and now find myself where I am unlocking new, expensive vehicles at a rate that I cannot keep up with
(One of my squadron mates said, “Welcome to Top Tier”).
So how do I get SL fast? I chose to play a few matches of Naval AB with the Premium Murmansk Light Cruiser, which I had gotten from the previous BP.
Naval Arcade Battles have been become quite a controversial topic in these forums, especially after the aiming rework that many posited as “horrible”
So how was my experience playing these seven, eight games? Boring. Easy. Profitable. Mind-Numbing.
Yet, from my observations, it is solely the aiming rework that leads to such an experience, however it certainly exacerbates the faults within Naval AB. For one thing, spawning in the Bluewater fleet point is most times a complete and utter sh*tshow.
More often than not, you spawn in a coverless position, with a short spawn protection timer. You find yourself scrambling for cover and getting ammo sniped. Having played Naval AB before the changes, this was already a problem, yet the rework has only greatly increased the problem.
It gives the vivid sensation of climbing on to the roof of your local supermarket, hanging your pants down, and mooning the entire local police department as they unload on you hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
I have occasionally played Naval AB in the past months, after I unlocked a vehicle, and I have witnessed a slow increase in players. When I first got the Chally 2 (Maybe four months antecedent) it took nearly seven minutes to get into a game in which half of both teams were bots. I just played a game thirty minutes ago, with only one or two bots.
Whether this is the general acceptance of the new AB by old AB players, or just fresh meat level 5’s piling in to lobbies is beyond me (I’m too lazy to do a deep dive into statshark), but it is still a notable observation.
Between the new mechanics, and the overall experience of playing NAB, I would rate it a 5/10. It isn’t exactly fun or engaging as other modes WT offers, yet it remains a good solution to getting SL, and is still relatively stunning for the size of the map.
Of course, these are my observances. Would love to hear what you guys have experienced yourself, and your thoughts on the matter.
