Ammo stowage model vs actual count

Simple Part: I wish that the ammo model in the tank x-ray actually reflected the amount of ammo stored in any particular rack. For example, the first stage ammo of the Crusader Mk. II shows 30 rounds, but in reality it only carries 22+1. It would be much easier to see how much ammo to take to best limit chance of cook-off if you could just quickly count the ammo in the x-ray and take just that into battle.

Less Simple Part:
At first, I assumed that the ammo did reflect the count as it does in the m60, and 105 Sherman. When I discovered this was not always the case, I assumed that it was always 22+1, as this was the case for the 105 Sherman, the Crusader Mk. II, and the M60, but soon found that tanks like the BT-5 or Pz. 35(t) can carry MORE ammo than displayed, completely the opposite to the Crusader. This doesn’t seem to be for balance, as it is somewhat arbitrary as to which tanks can carry more or less ammunition in one stowage rack. For example, both the m22 and m3 Stuart have their displayed ammo capacities of 25 and 41 rounds respectively, despite both tanks having similar performance to the Crusader II, which, again, received less first stage ammo than displayed in the x-ray.

This is all pretty basic stuff I’ve done, and I may have missed an already given explanation as I haven’t don’t much research, I just found this a bit frustrating, so at the very least this post may help release some of that :b

In general back in the day when tanks were released and some time after, the ammo racks were modelled as single piece. Same applies to majority of ships, where even with 1 round in rack, the stowage is full. Newely added vehicles have ammo racks modelled with each round disappearing, and i am not sure Gaijin is remodelling the old ones to new aswell.
