They outright stated they messed with it, I don’t know if it hit Reddit but they’re too caught up whining about German mains for the 10th year anyways.
And we’ve had the evidence with the aforementioned MG fires and APDS codes, the BVM being notoriously hard to ammo rack despite it being a blatant flaw in the vehicle’s design is another questionable case, as I’ve seen enough turret tossing olympics to know they most definitely do explode.
There is just no way to get that proof, yet it’s clearly possible to make it so that certain vehicles can get stronger crew to be able to survive a shot whilst you can also do the opposite and slightly lower HP to ensure they get knocked out every time… the game is so ridden with RNG and inconstancies that it will be impossible to tell the difference between a 40 or 60% chance of something happening, but in the long run it will affect performances.
And can things realistically be explained like a Tiger going from 35% winrates to 65% winrates a few years ago with zero changes to the game or matchmaking, they suddenly just vastly increased in performance… which could happen if they are more consistently are able to survive a shot whilst more consistently killing things in return.
There are so many vehicles that perform in a way that just doesn’t make any sense based on the vehicle armor and it’s capabilities.
Ammo has 0,15 detonation chance.
If you hit several that chance grows, however it’s probably not gonna be 100%.
Sometimes on vehicles that were in game for decades theres mismodeling where several ammo pieces count as one.
Ammo blacking out and disappearing is nowhere only soviet tanks thing.
Spoiler
Heres an example:
Me shooting right at ammo rack of STRV-122A.
Ammo blacks out and disappears.
That 0.15 is not related to detonation, it’s realted to tank blown away and creating a crater. If we followed your logic, even if you hit all of the ammo in a tank the chances of it detonating would never exceed 5% (0.15 x 30 ammo), that’s ridiculous.
Your screenshots only show top tier and it seems that it’s not even in a beta state up there … it’s more rare in lower tier and i have the feeling that they are modeled differently
Also, forget about the soviet thing, the important question is the ammo detonation.
So, there are 2 things, that trigger this behaviour:
1, the tank has 2 piece ammo (so the propelland and projectile are separated)
2, the ammo rack is modelled as a single module, instead of every ammo being individually modelled.
Examples for number 1: Soviet 122/125/152mm, german 150mm, US 105mm.
Examples for number 2: Tiger 2 (ammo modelled in bulks of 2), M60A3 RISE (same), and many other low BR tanks, where even an entire rack is modelled as single piece.
The chance of this happening is a mistry to me, as well as why some tanks are very likely to trigger it, while others are not.
It also happens when you use APHE, not just with solidshot (here Dicker Max with 2 piece ammo):
